Wiko View 3 Pro review: lots of power and a great display

Why Wiko View 3 Pro? Why not limit yourself to the cheaper variant of the French smartphone? There are actually two main reasons: performance - improved thanks to enhanced hardware - and the display. But no more chatter and let's analyze this device in detail!

Similar but different

On the left Wiko View 3 Pro, on the right the View 3

Apparently Wiko View 3 and 3 Pro are very similar, but don't be fooled. The older brother in fact presents a glass back cover - unfortunately not particularly oleophobic - and the phosphorescent effect "Glow in the dark”Which, in theory, should help you find your smartphone even in the dark. I say "theoretically" because the effect is not particularly pronounced and, honestly, it failed to convince me.

The metal profile is almost analogous, with the 3,5 mm jack on the upper side, the hybrid door for SIM and microSD on the right and the volume rocker and power button - knurled on the View 3 Pro - on the left. Instead, the charging connector changes: finally we have a more modern one USB Type-C.

Finally, we come to the display with the now traditional notch. The HD resolution gives way to a more convincing one this time Full HD+, flanked by a higher pixel density and good color rendering. The brightness is not particularly high, in line with that of the devices in this range and unfortunately not very high under direct sunlight, where we certainly lose something in terms of readability.

Power and autonomy

To distinguish Wiko View 3 Pro from the cheaper variant is also the hardware hidden under the body. This time we have a MediaTek Helio P60 from 2 GHz e ben 6 GB in RAM, more than enough to ensure maximum fluidity to the operating system, namely Android 9.0 Pie.

Instead, the autonomy remains unchanged. The 4.000 mAh battery allows you to peacefully cover a day and a half, two with a rather thrifty use.

Finally improve connectivity with WiFi dual-band, NFC (now essential for digital payments), GPS and Bluetooth 4.2. Also present is the FM radio for those who do not want to give it up.

More megapixels but no changes

The differences between the two French smartphones are considerably thinner when it comes to the photographic sector. The main and wide-angle cameras remain identical, capable of guaranteeing good shots not only during the day but also in low light conditions. Yes, it's true, the depth sensor goes from 2 to 5 megapixels, but this has absolutely no effect on the result.

I would also like to point out that, however satisfactory the rendering of the wide-angle lens is, you will have to get used to a certain level of distortion along the edges, particularly evident when there are architectural elements or straight roads.

The front camera instead now reaches 16 megapixels but don't expect amazing selfies. In reality, in low light conditions the self-portraits are not too exciting and when the light is excessive you risk getting a bit burnt photographs.

Finally, for the videos I was expecting clips in 4K, but unfortunately I had to settle for the usual Full HD at 30 fps. The surrender? In line with the devices of the same range.

Wiko View 3 or 3 Pro: which one to choose?

The choice of course depends on your budget and your needs. On the one hand, in fact, we have the View 3 which, with its 179 euros, is really perfect for those looking for an inexpensive device without wanting to make too many sacrifices, on the other hand we have the View 3 Pro which meets the needs of those who need a little more computing power for their daily activities.

The problem for the Wiko View 3 Pro is the price: 249 euros for the 64 GB version and 299 euros for the 128 GB version. A decidedly populated price range, moreover by extremely fierce competitors. In short, the device will probably become more attractive when the price starts to drop.
