This is the case with the latest top of the range of the Taiwanese multinational, which, with a very particular photographic department and top specifications, really impressed and conquered us. So here's our review of the new one ZenFone 7 Pro di Asus, an absolutely valid device and to be taken into consideration if you are looking for a telephone.

To talk about ZenFone 7 Pro we must first talk about its photographic department. In the continuing ambition to have a borderless front that doesn't resort to notch o holes to accommodate the front camera, several companies have worked over the years with retractable sensors o mini-screens on the back to take selfies with the rear cameras. Asus, however, already with SAMSUNG 6 had decided to go directly to a motorized system able to carry the dorsal photographic department on the front. This choice has come, further improved both in terms of performance that of durability, even on the new model.
In addition to the implementation peculiarity, this choice allows you to use all the quality of the three rear cameras even in front mode. The Sony IMX686 main sensor from 64 MP guarantees extremely sharp photos, while theultra wide angle Sony IMX363 from 12MP can be used for both i landscape that for group photo. Complete the picture a telephoto 8MP, which guarantees an optical zoom 3x and a digital zoom 12x. Both the main sensor and the telephoto lens are then equipped with optical stabilization on four axles, especially useful especially in videos.
In addition to quality, having the cameras available also in frontal mode allows you to access all the shooting modes usually reserved for the rear departments. We then have the modality Night, la Portrait, but also it Slow Motion, i Time Lapse e i video 8K 30 fps or, more reasonably, 4K 60 fps. The Asus software then allows you to use the motorized mechanism both to position the photographic compartment even at intermediate angles and for the mode Automatic panorama, that is, capable of taking an image by itself to 360 °.
A very respectable top of the range
If the photographic department alone makes this phone particular and absolutely noteworthy, it is not the only strong point of the device, on the contrary. Under the body we have first of all the SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus 5G with GPU Adreno 650, which is the best of the best in the Android world. To support him we find 8 GB of RAM L e 256 GB of internal memory UFS 3.1, both of the latest generation and extremely fast.
The processor and memories contribute, together with the screen with refresh rate a 90 Hz, to make the use experience extremely fluid, with sliding animations and responsive applications. The screen deserves a separate discussion: da 6.67 " and type AMOLED, is able to reach a high brightness and can be used safely even in direct light. The absence of notches and holes makes the front perfectly uniform and continuous, even if the 'full screen' effect is made imperfect by the presence of quite visible edges.
The experience of use
One of the first things you notice when using this phone is its consistency: her dimensions (165x77x9.6 mm) and its weight (A little bit more than 235g, about 260 with the cover) definitely make it a device that is felt in the hand. A good part of the weight is still functional, as it is attributable to the battery from 5000 mAh. This high capacity guarantees excellent autonomy (almost two full days), even without particular attention to use. Thanks to the support of standards Quick Charge 4.0 e PD Charging and the inclusion of a 30W, recharging is then extremely fast (50% less than half an hour).
Unlocking the device is almost immediate, thanks to the fingerprint sensor integrated in the power button, positioned laterally. This system, although more "dated" than the popular sensors positioned below the screen, beats the latter in terms of speed and accuracy and, especially in these days of masks, it is much more practical than facial unlocking. The latter is still present in theory, but it is so slow that it is absolutely not convenient, since it requires you to touch the screen and wait for the cameras to rotate.
The large, high-quality and seamless screen contributes, along with the sound system stereo of acceptable quality, to an extremely enjoyable multimedia experience. However, the audio output is still asymmetrical, with most of the audio coming from the speaker on the bottom of the device rather than from the earpiece. It therefore remains necessary to pay attention to the telephone grip if you do not want to limit the output volume.
An attractive price
The last feature to consider is the list price: to 799€, ZenFone 7 Pro stands as one of the most complete devices at this price range, with very few rivals.
Summing up, this smartphone is definitely worth considering if you are looking for one top of the range with cutting-edge specifications at a fair price. The few defects, such as theaccumulation of dust in the motorized department and lack of certified protection from water and dust, perhaps make it unsuitable for people looking for a device to take "off the road", such as camping or in Spain. However, they are balanced by the presence of solid and 'future-proof' features, such as connectivity 5G e WiFi 6, which will allow you to use it without problems for several years to come.
