Borderlands 3: How to play Split Screen Co-Op

Borderlands 3 is here, and if you're right, you're going to want to play this game with a few of your friends. When Gearbox Software announced the game we all knew you were going to be playing co-op because what better Borderlands game if you can't? You can play online, but you can also play the game with your friends on the couch. This is how you play on a split screen.

How to play Split Screen Co-op in Borderlands 3

When you start the game you will be given the option to choose the difficulty. Choose the option you want, then choose whether the game will be competitive or cooperative. The difference between these two solutions is that when you choose to stay competitive, you and your partner are not heading to the same level and you will be fighting for the same ammo caches. You won't share it. Instead, you plan to talk to each other about ammo you aren't using and help the other out if they're lower level than you. While with Coop, you'll stay close to each other, support each other, and then share ammo and loot.

Once you start the game you will see a brief cutscene and you will watch the story of the game. This cutscene should only occur for the first two minutes, after which you will choose your character. If you have two controllers plugged in, your friend should be given the option to choose a character to play.

It is important to note that those who play on the PC will not have this option. PC gamers do not switch to split screen mode with their game, only console, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 gamers will have this option. PC gamers are going to need to meet up online with their friends to play the game together through an online connection.

Good luck, Vault Hunters.
