CTEsports Mantra review: Spartan design, excellent performance

The first time I saw the CTEsports Mantra I twisted my nose a little. In fact, the design is absolutely spartan and, let's face it, not too attractive. Yet, once they were put on and tried on, I really started to like them. The reason? I'll explain it to you right away.

Comfortable, solid but can be improved

The initial impact, as I mentioned above, is not the best. The CTEsports Mantra turn out definitely too minimal and characterized by hard lines and decidedly inconsistent aesthetic choices, very far from those taken by the more famous brands.

However, this does not mean that the build quality of the Mantra is bad. Indeed, Cortek's headset is comfortable, light and capable of mixing plastics and metals in a more than satisfactory way. This allows the headband to have a resistant metal core, without weighing down our head too much during prolonged gaming sessions. Then they think about making the use pleasant the two pavilions, soft and able to perfectly contain any type of ear.

The only real flaw is represented by the controls of these headphones, located along the braided cable. The problem is that the dongle that houses all the buttons we need is really huge and must necessarily be placed on the desk, otherwise it will unnecessarily burden your head.

Finally, I would like to point out that the CTEsports Mantra they only work on a PC and they need 3 different inputs: the headphone jack, the microphone jack and a USB port that will allow you to use all the features of the headset.

Below the surface

But how do these headphones perform once they are worn?

On board we find driver from 53mm to neodymium which guarantee excellent sound quality. The audio is crystal clear, the bass is deep enough and the feeling of immersion is really high.

The remote control then allows us to take advantage of a series of additional features that I was able to appreciate during our test. First of all you have a small switch that allows us to take advantage of the ANC technology, that is active noise cancellation. This will increase the isolation and help you focus on the game.

Then there is the 3D mode which offers 4 different equalizations: base, cinema, gaming e musica; this will allow you to adapt this accessory to your needs and to any type of situation. There is also the possibility to adjust the volume thanks to the appropriate wheel and to turn it on or off the microphone, a microphone that boasts a rather good quality but which we found perhaps a bit too stiff.

Is it worth buying Mantra CTEsports?

CTEsports Mantra are not for everyone and go to position themselves in a market segment that is really difficult to conquer. We are in fact talking about a product that works exclusively on PC and is sold to 199 Euro, a price very similar to that of much better known and renowned headsets. Cortek's move therefore seemed to me perhaps a little too risky. The CTEsports brand, created by the company precisely to enter the world of electronic sports, collides with the most famous and notoriously reliable manufacturers, which could penalize the spread and growth of the brand.
