Facebook: Snapchat-style avatars are finally arriving in Europe!

Facebook will finally allow its users to create an avatar in their image. Available in Australia since last year, this new feature is about to land in Europe. Unsurprisingly, the social network was largely inspired by Snapchat's Bitmojis.

In June 2021, Facebook launched Avatars, a shameless copy of Snapchat's Bitmojis, in the hope of appealing to younger internet users. Concretely, this option allows Facebook members to create an avatar that looks like them. To design the avatar, all you have to do is go to a conversation on Messenger and press the “Create your avatar” button in the “Stickers” tab. All the elements can be personalized: hair, skin color, glasses, dress style, etc.

Facebook still copies Snapchat with its own avatars

On the basis of this avatar, Internet users are then invited to design stickers. These small images aim to give dynamism and to illustrate a conversation, like emoticons. They are available in Messenger conversations and on Facebook.

You can use it in particular to respond to the status of a friend, for example. Facebook wants to allow its users to easily reply to its contacts without having to write a message. The objective is to make the social network, deserted by young people, more lively and visual. The operation of Facebook avatars is more or less the same as that of Bitmojis, these stickers used daily by 70% of Snapchat users.

This May 13, 2021, Facebook has officially launched the deployment of this feature in Europe. As always, the option will be rolled out gradually across the continent. At the same time, avatars will also appear on the American continent. What do you think of Facebook's avatars? Are you going to use it? We await your opinion in the comments.
