Galaxy Buds: Samsung's true wireless headphones review

Galaxy Buds: Samsung's true wireless headphones review

Between the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Fold, the presentation of the Galaxy Buds it was probably the least memorable part of the Unpacked by Samsung. But this is in no way linked to the quality of the product: they are in fact excellent earphones from every point of view and, after having tried them, we want to explain why.

Our Samsung Galaxy Buds review

The peculiarity of these headphones can already be seen from the package: in addition to the charging cable USB Type-C, in fact, there are an infinite number of rubber pads to adapt the headphones to both channels that the pavilion earphone. In this way we will be sure to be able to wear our headphones comfortably and firmly, without fear of losing them if we decide to use them for physical activity.

The package also includes the custody, equipped with its own battery to recharge the headphones whenever they are stored inside. The case is then rechargeable in turn both via cable and in mode wireless, thanks to support for the standard Qi. For the latter type of recharge we can use any Qi certified pad or the our Galaxy S10: the new Samsung flagships, in fact, are equipped with the functionality Wireless Power Share, which can be used to recharge other mobile phones or, precisely, these new headphones.

The charge provided by the case will add another 6 hours of autonomy to the 6 hours already "included" in the headphones, for a total of 12 hours playback. This is a truly impressive result, given the size of these earphones, and that will allow you to always make it to the end of the day.

But now we come to the actual user experience: despite the absence of features such as active noise cancellation, the reproduction is clean and of excellent quality, guaranteed by the technology of AKG. The calls are also very clear: thanks to 4 microphones adaptive (two for headphones, one internal and one external), our voice will always reach the interlocutor without annoying background noises.

As for the interaction with the earphones, the physical buttons are totally missing, and everything takes place through gestures on the touch surface present on both Buds. These commands (single, double, triple and long touch) work on both headphones and are fully customizable via the application Galaxy Wearable, which also allows you to monitor the charge level, manage the reading notifications and set the playback mode via theequalizer.

Among the other features offered by the app we also find the possibility to set, for the same gesture, different commands depending on the headset, in order to increase the possible actions even more without taking out the mobile phone. Furthermore, in order not to isolate yourself from the external environment, it is possible both to use the earphones in single headphone mode, wearing only one, and to use the ambient sound mode, which through the microphones captures the external sound and makes it reach the amplified ear. The latter feature can also be set to selectively detect the voice, letting us get the words but excluding the background noise.

As a final note, we are really impressed with the connectivity of these headphones: if in fact in most of the products of this type there is sometimes a failure to connect one of the earphones, we did not run into this problem with the Galaxy Buds, which from the opening of the case are immediately connected and ready for use.

Already available on Samsung's official website at the recommended price of €149 and in the colors White black e yellow, we feel we can fully promote them: they have indeed proved to be a valid, functional, easy to use and high quality product. See you next review!
