Netflix disappears from some Samsung Smart TVs on December 1, 2021

Netflix will no longer be available on certain Samsung-branded Smart TVs from December 2021, XNUMX, announces the South Korean manufacturer. According to the firm, some models of older televisions will indeed no longer have access to the integrated Netflix application because of “technical limitations”. To take advantage of your subscription on your connected television, you will therefore have to opt for an alternative.

“Due to technical limitations, some devices will no longer support Netflix as of December 1, 2021. Some older Samsung Smart TVs are affected by this change,” Samsung announces on its official website. Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not give the exact list of affected televisions.

Most connected TVs sold by Samsung have a directly integrated Netflix application. Users can thus access series and films from the Netflix catalog without having to go through an HDMI key or a console. This is also the case with Smart TVs from LG, Toshiba or Sony.

According to Samsung, some televisions released several years ago are not more compatible with the latest version of the Netflix app for Smart TV. Note, however, that these are models dating from 2010 and 2011 sold in the United States and Canada. An error message explaining the situation will appear on the screen of all affected TVs when opening Netflix in the coming days. If this is your case, there are alternative solutions.

How to watch Netflix on your Samsung Smart TV after December 1, 2021?

“Many other devices that you may have already connected to your TV are still supported,” reassures Samsung. The brand evokes terminals such as video game consoles (PS4, etc.), HDMI keys (Google Chromecast, etc.) or TV boxes, such as Apple TV, Roku or Amazon Fire.

From our side, we advise you to opt for a Chromecast, which remains the easiest and cheapest solution to stream Netflix content to your TV. Available for the modest sum of 35 euros, the Chromecast is also equipped with a Fast Play function, which will automatically load the next episode of your favorite series during your current episode. If you have a Google Home or Google Nest speaker, you can even voice-play episodes of a series.
