Oppo Enco W31 review: a real surprise

Oppo Enco W31 review - Six years ago I bought my first noise canceling headphones. I had a specific use in mind: I needed to be able to use them on a train or plane, eliminate the surrounding chaos and enjoy good audio quality, without any annoying delay if I decided to use them to watch a movie. I hadn't even considered Bluetooth headphones at the time. Today, however, the needs have changed. Of course, isolating yourself from the world, especially if you have to cross an ocean, is always necessary but first of all we want freedom. The freedom to live without cables, to have something comfortable and compact, to be able to manage music and calls with the same speed, to use the same pair of headphones in the car, at home, in the office or walking down the street. The true wireless earphones meet these needs. But don't think that they are all the same. They can have a different yield, different costs, additional features and an autonomy ranging from a few hours to a few tens.
How are the Oppo enco w31 in all this? To find out, we put them to the test for a few days.

 Oppo Enco W31 review: design and technology

Oppo Enco W31 review: a real surpriseIt may seem like an irrelevant detail but the true wireless headphones case is one of the most important elements. A compact and slim case can easily be kept in a pocket, remaining available at any time. The Enco W31 case responds perfectly to this need: we have a small disc that can be opened just like a mirror. Inside we find the two earphones and a button dedicated to pairing con smartphone, tablet o PC.

The two caps are made of polycarbonate, they have a rather traditional shape and have a rubber at the end, which you can change by choosing one of the other adapters present in the package. This allows you to fit the earphones to your ears and ensure good stability during daily use.

To characterize the Enco W31 we also find IP54 certification, which guarantees resistance to sweat, and sensitivity to touch. The touch surface allows you to use the gesture:

  • a double tap on the left earphone to accept or end a phone call and to activate the two listening modes, balanced and dynamic;
  • a double tap on the right earphone to go on with the music;
  • a triple tap on both earphones calls up the voice assistant (Google Assistant, Alexa or Siri).

Inside these very light earphones we find it bluetooth 5.0, 7mm driver with AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) format support for superior sound quality and the electronic noise cancellation on call. Thanks to two small microphones located on the earphones, the Enco W31 are able to analyze the external environment and then eliminate the surrounding noises and guarantee clear and crystalline calls.

The Oppo Enco W31 in everyday life

Oppo Enco W31 review: a real surpriseI have been using these true wireless earbuds for two weeks and they managed to convince me right away. Pairing - with any smartphone - is extremely fast and the quality of the music playback is really good. The two modes allow you to get the best out of individual songs, with a decidedly high volume, no distortion and decent bass.

Equally good is the call quality. You are able to hear your interlocutor perfectly and he too will not have great difficulty listening to you. We had some small problems in extremely noisy environments, such as heavily trafficked streets, but nothing really relevant: it's not like staying at home or in the office but you will still be able to converse without difficulty.

I would also like to point out a plus: you can also use just one headset, both for listening to music and for making calls.

The gestures are comfortable enough even if the triple tap is rather slow in response. On the other hand, the sensors inside them understand when you take them off and pause the music playback. A simple but very useful function.

Finally, we come to autonomy. The Oppo Enco W31 earphones guarantee about 3 and a half hours of use on one charge, arriving at 15 with its small case. This allowed us to recharge them just a couple of times over the course of these 15 days.
Once downloaded, you can use your smartphone's USB-C cable for charging.

Oppo Enco W31 review: buy them or not?

Le Oppo Enco W31, available in white and black, they are excellent Bluetooth headphones sold at an honest price: 99 € for an accessory with good audio quality, decent noise cancellation on calls and decent autonomy. We would not have regretted an application that would allow you to change the gestures. It would certainly have helped customize the experience, but never mind: even so the Enco W31s are a great choice if you are looking for true wireless earbuds.
