Oppo Find X2 Lite review

Oppo Find X2 Lite review - This is the year of 5G. How many times have we heard this phrase? Not only in presentations dedicated to the press or to professionals, but everywhere, on every possible media and channel. Yet, to date, 5G has seemed more of a chimera than a tangible innovation. The areas covered are very few, the networks are not sufficiently performing and compatible smartphones really cost a blunder.

But something begins to change. And Oppo is the first to give an important signal in this sense. Yes why its Find X2 Lite is 5G and costs 499 euros. But is the new generation connectivity enough to make this device interesting? Let's find out in this review.

A traditional design

Oppo Find X2 Lite review: the new king of the mid-range?Unlike Oppo Find X2 Pro and Neo, Oppo Find X2 Lite shows a decidedly more traditional design. No curved edges then but a flat display, a glossy plastic back cover - and yes, it holds fingerprints - and a metal frame that houses the on / off button, on the right, and the volume rocker, on the left. On the bottom, in addition to the speaker and the USB-C connector, we find the always loved 3,5 mm jack.

The feeling is that of being undoubtedly in front of a cheaper device than its two older brothers but this does not mean that it is not well made. On the contrary, you will find it solid, resistant and not at all slippery.

Compared to the Neo, however, it is slightly heavier and initially it will seem bigger than its older brother. Actually the display of the Lite is of 6,4 inches therefore theoretically smaller. A quick comparison allowed us to notice how in reality the dimensions are really very similar: the difference is made by the curved edges of the Oppo Find X2 Neo which allow it to gain a little bit in terms of space and ergonomics.

But let's go back to the little one of the house and its AMOLED screen with Full HD resolution. If the Pro and the Neo offered a refresh rate of 120Hz and 90Hz, respectively, the Lite stops at the classic 60 Hz. On the other hand, brightness and color rendering remain fairly unchanged, with the possibility of adapt the display to your needs by changing the mode and color temperature. Dark Mode and Eye Protection are also available to filter out blue light.

Also this time we find the fingerprint sensor under the display, with the possibility of using the unlocking with 2D face recognition.

Oppo Find X2 Lite review: almost twins

Oppo Find X2 Lite review: the new king of the mid-range?Under the body we find practically the same components present in the Neo: Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor and Adreno 620 GPU. The RAM drops here to 8 GB - more than enough for any kind of use - while the memory stops at 128 GB, also in this case not expandable.

Needless to say that we didn't have any kind of problem with the device: Oppo Find X2 Lite is responsive, able to manage any kind of app and game and to accompany you in all kinds of activities.

Also connectivity is at the top with support for 5G - also in this case with a single SIM -, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.1 and NFC.

Autonomy and operating system are also promoted. The first, which relies on a 4.025 mAh battery, allows you to cover a day and a half of intensive use without too much difficulty, while the second is Android 10 with ColorOS 7, the proprietary interface of Oppo. The latter is now stable, modern and equipped with useful features such as Dark Mode, Focus mode to promote concentration, quick commands that can be recalled via a sidebar and an integrated password manager.

Ok, but the camera?

Oppo Find X2 Lite review: the new king of the mid-range?Also in this case we are faced with four different sensors:

  • the main one from 48 megapixels, a Sony IMX586 with f / 1.7 aperture and electronic image stabilization;
  • un 8 megapixel wide angle and 119°;
  • a 2 megapixel sensor intended for vintage portraits;
  • a 2

What perplexed me was the main sensor. Not because the results are bad but because, although the lens is the same as the Neo, the colors are different and the photo retains some less detail. Overall anyway the yield is satisfactory, especially if you usually take pictures for social media or to share via messaging services.

The wide angle instead gives a good glance but the distortion is really very noticeable. We hope this will be resolved with a software update.

On the other hand, the selfies with the 32 megapixel camera are excellent that gives you detailed shots and natural colors. And if you have any flaws to hide, just rely on artificial intelligence.

Oppo Find X2 Lite review: buy it or not?

Oppo Find X2 Lite is an excellent compromise: with 499 € you can buy a 5G product with truly top performance. If the camera behaved like that of the Neo it would probably be a real best buy but a software update could arrive, capable of raising the quality of the camera, thus putting a complete product in the hands of users from any point of view.
