Oppo Find X2 Neo review

Oppo Find X2 Neo review - It will hit the market on May 22nd Oppo Find X2 Neo and the question arises: what changes compared to the Pro model? What features do we lose? In reality, the difference is not that huge in everyday use. Sure, the specs are very different but Neo was still able to meet our needs. We talk about it in detail in this review.

Ergonomics first of all

Oppo Find X2 Neo review: the perfect balanceIn recent months I have rediscovered the joy of holding a device with a curved display. I find it more ergonomic, more elegant and more immersive. Oppo Find X2 Neo has all these features. And for this reason I liked it right away. I loved the comfort of the handle, the opaque glass back cover - truly spectacular in color Starry Blue - and the aspect ratio of 20: 9, which makes it usable even with one hand.

The metal frame instead houses the power button, located on the right, and the volume rocker, positioned instead on the left. On the bottom we find the USB-C connector, the speaker and the slot dedicated to the SIM. No microSD or dual network cards: the memory is not expandable and Neo is designed to accommodate only one SIM.

And the jack? Unfortunately, it is absent but you can console yourself with the excellent performance offered by the speaker or that the USB-C headphones present in the package.

Oppo Find X2 Neo review: the perfect balanceThe display is an AMOLED, just like that of Oppo Find X2 Pro. However, we find obvious differences: the size goes from 6,7 to 6,5 inches, the resolution drops to a satisfactory one. Full HD + and the refresh rate stops at 90 Hz against the 120 Hz of the older brother. It also lacks support for HDR. We are therefore not in front of the same screen but realizing it is really difficult. In fact, the user experience is more than satisfactory: the display is responsive, offers great fluidity and boasts vibrant colors and excellent brightness.
You can also customize the experience by visiting the dedicated menu: from here you can activate the dark mode, change the temperature and color mode or lower the screen refresh rate.
Within the settings you will also find an item called Screen light effects that allows the edge of the display to light up when you receive calls and notifications.

Finally, I would like to point out the presence of a rapid fingerprint reader under the display, flanked by unlocking through face recognition.

Oppo Find X2 Neo review: the perfect balanceOppo Find X2 Neo review: what autonomy!

No Snapdragon 865 for Oppo Find X2 Neo but, trust me, it won't be a problem. The Qualcomm processor Snapdragon 765G, flanked by the Adreno 620 GPU, 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, it does a great job. The smartphone does not slow down, does not stick and does not encounter difficulties even with the most demanding video games.

So no sacrifice in terms of performance but not even when it comes to connectivity. Yes because the new Oppo device comes with WiFi 6 and 5G support. In addition we have Bluetooth 5.1 and the inevitable NFC for digital payments.

What about the battery? With its 4025 mAh it really managed to surprise us. Despite the phone calls, gaming, emails and messages that storm our days, she managed to make us cover two full days. Really impressive.

ColorOS 7: we're almost there

A few words we would also like to spend on the ColorOS 7, the proprietary interface based on Android 10.
I have never loved Oppo's UI but over time it has managed to improve, putting aside what was wrong and instead pushing the accelerator on the most loved and used features.

Today ColorOS is almost perfect. Almost because the notifications still do not excite me but it is really difficult to find other defects.

How do the four cameras perform?

Yes, you got it right. Oppo Find X2 Neo has four objectives:

  • the main one, from 48 megapixel, with aperture f / 1,7 and optical stabilization;
  • a 13 megapixel telephoto lens with 5x hybrid optical zoom;
  • un wide-angle from 8 megapixel da 116 °;
  • un 2 megapixel black and white sensor mainly dedicated to the portrait.

How they behave? Let's start with the main sensor that really convinced us thanks to natural colors, an excellent level of detail and an HDR that, in automatic mode, manages to act discreetly and without ever exaggerating. You also have an option called Active Bright Color, which we did not particularly love: the AI enters powerfully and the colors are clearly fake. Also good is the Night mode which is more than satisfactory.

Oppo Find X2 Neo review: the perfect balanceZoom passed with flying colors which at 2x maintains a good level of detail without distorting the colors while at 5x we certainly lose the details but all in all the yield is more than decent. The wide angle is instead a little too subject to distortions. The latter lens can also be used for macros, a situation in which it has proved to be an excellent ally.

Finally we have the 32 megapixel front camera which gives an excellent definition and which allows you, as always, to play with the AI to improve the aspects that convince you less.

Finally, we come to videos that reach 4K and that can make use of Ultra Steady Video 2.0 technology. The result? Very high resolution movies that are really very stable.

Oppo Find X2 Neo review: buy it or not?

In the last few weeks we have got our hands on Oppo Find X2 Pro, Neo and Lite and Neo is what convinced us most. With 699 € in fact you can take home an elegant device, comfortable to use, with top performance and a good photographic sector. In addition, the battery lasts practically two days. In my opinion it is the perfect balance between quality and price.
