Razer Stormtrooper Edition review: who is this new set dedicated to?

Razer Stormtrooper Edition is the set created by the American company to celebrate one of the most loved film sagas of all time, a collection created in collaboration with Star Wars which includes three different products: the mechanical keyboard Razer BlackWidow Lite, il mouse wireless Razer Anthers and the mat Razer Goliathus Extended. But who are these peripherals suitable for? And most importantly, how do they behave? To find out, we mistreated them for a couple of weeks.

Razer BlackWidow Lite – Stormtrooper Edition

Let's start with the keyboard, the compact and silent version of the Razer BlackWidow that has always managed to conquer us. From the older sister this Lite version inherits first of all Orange Mechanical Switches with integrated O-rings, designed for gaming and capable of giving excellent feedback without being annoying or annoying. The company calls them "silent" but of course it is a relative attribute: you can simply consider them less noisy than traditional ones, but remember that you are still in front of a mechanical keyboard.

So what changes compared to the classic BlackWidow? First of all, as I mentioned above, the dimensions are smaller, the weight is much lower and the numeric keypad is missing. The cable is also different, a USB / microUSB that can be disconnected if necessary, made of fiber and about 2 meters long.

Finally, there is no lack the backlight but don't expect the usual 16.8 million colors. This time the light is only white and there are only two modes: Static and Breathing. To choose the one that suits you best you will have to install the usual software, Razer Synapse 3, which will also allow you to decide the intensity of the LEDs and turn off the backlight when the PC is idle or the display is off.

But let's get to the initial question: who is this Razer BlackWidow Lite Stoormtrooper Edition suitable for? Undoubtedly to anyone looking for a compact, lightweight and even portable peripheral. All this as long as you are willing to give up the numeric keypad, which - I confess - I missed a bit during the most intense writing sessions given the impossibility of using it to create, for example, accented capital letters. However, this is a rather specific problem and certainly linked to my profession, a problem that, for example, does not concern those who want to use it mainly for playing. In the gaming sessions, with Overwatch specifically, it performed absolutely well, resulting reactive and extremely comfortable even in the most agitated situations.

In short, if the small sacrifices do not scare you and if you love Star Wars madly, it is definitely worth the money. 109,99 € to take home the Razer BlackWidow Lite Stoormtrooper Edition.

Razer Atheris – Stormtrooper Edition

Unlike the keyboard, Razer Atheris it is a wireless device. There are two ways of using it: you can use 2,4 Ghz wireless connection - and consequently connect the small receiver to the PC - or use Bluetooth. This allows you to use it with any device, including newer notebooks which often lack traditional USB ports. Worried about autonomy? Don't panic: the two AA batteries that you will find in the package guarantee about 350 hours of use, after which you simply need to change them to resume using it.

To characterize this Atheris we find then the absolutely compact size, a decidedly ergonomic ambidextrous form factor, five programmable keys and a wheel optimized for gaming. On board a true 7200 DPI optical sensor, DPI that you can quickly change using the small button located on the top surface and that give you all the precision you need.

Also in this case, compatibility with Razer Synapse 3.0 is not lacking. No lighting though. In this case, in fact, you can remap the keys, decide the DPI associated with the 5 available steps and change the polling rate, that is, the frequency with which the mouse sends its position to a computer. 3 the steps foreseen: 250, 500 and 1000 Hz. Then you have two more taps available: Calibrationn, to indicate the type of mat used, e Power, which helps you to optimize the battery.

All this makes it suitable for both gaming and daily use, even if the most avid gamers will probably prefer a wired product with more buttons and more generous dimensions. The compact form factor in fact makes it perhaps less solid during the most adrenaline-pumping games, but allows you to carry it easily. Just put the receiver back inside and you are ready to take it with you inside a backpack or bag.

The cost of all this? 69,99 euro.
