[Review] Honor 9: how is Honor's new flagship phone?

Some time ago we flew to Berlin to find out Honor 9, the new top of the range of the subsidiary of Huawei. Will he have been able to make us forget his much appreciated predecessor?

Honor 9: a look at the technical characteristics

Honor 9 features a elegant design, enriched by a glass back made up of 15 different layers that allows it to reflect the light and not go unnoticed. On the front instead we find an 5,15-inch IPS LCD display with Full HD resolution, while under the hood we find the Kirin 960 processor of Huawei, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory, expandable thanks to the now inevitable micro SD. The battery is from 3200 mAh while the operating system is Android 7.0, a questionable choice considering that lower-end smartphones have already been updated to version 7.1.1.

The connectivity of the device is instead entrusted to the dual sim, the latest generation WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2 and NFC; do not miss the 3,5 mm jack and the USB Type-C input for charging and file transfer.

Honor 9: the dual camera

Honor 9 inherited from its cousin Huawei P10 the double camera, but this time you will not find the Leica brand. However, the sensors remain practically identical, with the monochrome one from 20 megapixel and the RGB one from 12 megapixel.

Unfortunately, the optical stabilization is missing, replaced by the digital one which works discreetly but does not guarantee excellent results. In principle, you will thus have excellent shots in conditions of good brightness while the quality drops considerably when the available light is minimal.

Note two new modes: the 3D overview, created with the collaboration of Fyuse, e 3D creation, a fun option that allows you to create a three-dimensional avatar of friends and acquaintances using multiple shots in sequence.

Honor 9 or Honor 8?

At this point you may be wondering how Honor 9 behaves in everyday life. Let's try to answer this question in our video review.
