Samsung Galaxy Watch Active: the technical characteristics

Galaxy Watch Active is characterized by small size but top features. In addition to the minimal and compact design, the first thing that catches the eye is the Super AMOLED display. With a diagonal of 1,1 pollicie a resolution of 360 × 360 pixels, the screen has a truly excellent rendering.

A microphone is also on board, perfect for controlling it with your voice, but no loudspeaker. There is also Wi-Fi, GPS, barometer, gyroscope, NFC, HR sensor and, of course, that of the brightness. A list that makes the Watch Active complete from every point of view.

The hardware doesn't disappoint either. Under the body of the small watch beats a dual core processor from 1,5 GHz, flanked by 768 MB of RAM e 4 GB of internal memory, which can be used in part to transfer photos, music or other contents.

With such a minimal design and a weight of only 25 g, Samsung has managed to adopt a good battery for its smartwatch 230mAh which we will talk about later.

Display

The small 1,1-inch display really surprised us. Bright, resolute and clearly visible! Samsung has always accustomed its customers well and this Galaxy Watch Active is no exception. To be really satisfying is the yield of the brightness sensor, capable of doing its job well. It also does not dazzle the view at night and does not become invisible in the sun

Despite the 10 and praise display, the old and dear bezel has disappeared giving way to a clearly visible black frame. A small flaw that, however, you will forget very soon.

Software

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active is powered by Samsung's proprietary operating system, Tizen OS. In my opinion the best solution in the wearble field. Tizen turns out fluid, well optimized and always fast and functional. A real miracle compared to the less popular Wear OS by Google.

Please note that the device is compatible with any Android and iOS smartphone but, of course, you will get the best possible experience using a device from the Korean company.

The interface is affected a little by the absence of the good old rotating bezel, which allowed to move in the menus without touching the screen. Don't panic anyway. browse the menus however, it is not uncomfortable. In fact, the menus are now organized vertically, making the most of the round surface of the display.

Like any good smartwatch, Samsung Galaxy Watch Active allows you to manage notifications and calls from the comfort of your wrist. Thanks to the integrated microphone we can respond vocally, or write on a small but functional keyboard.

Notification management is good, minus the calls to which you can answer directly only with headphones connected. Small parenthesis: use the Galaxy Buds on the Watch Active is a little joy. The Samsung ecosystem allows you to connect them without touching any buttons, but simply by opening the packaging of the Buds.

The sensor is also present NFC, for use with Samsung Pay, e Samsung health. As a good smartwatch that respects itself, the tracking of daily activity is excellent. From the clock you can see the constant heartbeat, stress, plans made, minutes of exercise and other beautiful and colorful graphics that motivate us every day. Despite not being an athlete, I have been able to try out the fitness features over the months. Tracking is perfect, almost never wrong. Heart rate reading is useful for people like me. he always needs to be careful never to go too high with frequency. If this happens, Galaxy Watch Active will warn you and help you calm down with controlled breathing exercises. Plus, with the wearable, it's possible also track sleep automatically.

The data collected by the Watch Active is then transferred to your smartphone in the Samsung Health app. From there you can access all the detailed data of your business. Amazing is the Watch's ability to control all of your parameters without you helping it with anything.

Autonomy

Despite the top ten features that make the Galaxy Watch Active the best smartwatch, the battery is still not satisfactory. However, we must identify two types of use: the first, the one I tried for a few days, is the use of the smartwatch intensively: I set the heart rate sensor and the stress detection continuously. Also, I haven't used any power saving features. In doing so I had the maximum functionality of the clock. Unfortunately, the battery was affected, which allowed me to use it for a day and a half at the most. With the second type of use, with frequent but not constant beating and disconnection from the smartphone for a few hours, Watch Active managed to do two full days of use.

In summary, if we use all the features without any "precaution", the watch will accompany you for just one day, then it will need to be recharged.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active: buy it or not?

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active is an extremely compelling device. It has a nice design, it is very compact and it is really simple to use. Of course, the autonomy is not incredible, but in the end it is in line with many other similar smartwatches.

And the price? In my opinion, it is definitely centered: 229 € that accompanies you at any time of the day.
