ASUS ROG Strix G15 Electro Punk review
ASUS ROG Strix G15 Electro Punk it's not for everyone. The Electro Punk details (or perhaps it would be better to call them Electro Pink) make it suitable only for pink lovers. And let's be clear: we are not just talking about the fair sex. This variant of the Strix G15 can easily adapt to both genres, you just have to appreciate the coloring.
But how does it behave in everyday life? We talk about it in this review.
An original notebook
There are two elements that will immediately catch your eye: the color and the size
ASUS ROG Strix G15 Electro Punk black with pink details. We find this shade along the profile of the notebook, on the ROG logo positioned on the lid, around the touchpad and on the AWSD keys. Nothing really invasive. In reverse, these details give the notebook a bit of personality.
They turn out the dimensions are a bit large. An aspect that is amplified by a series of choices related to the design of the Strix G15. We are talking about the right edge of the keyboard, with a wavy pattern that is not very useful and captivating, but above all of the back. Here we find a particularly abundant border that has made it particularly difficult for the laptop to enter our usual backpacks. On the other hand, however, you have all the connectivity you need: behind we find in fact the input for the power supply, the USB-C port, an HDMI and the slot for the RJ-45 cable, while on the left we have three traditional USB and the 3,5 mm jack.
Complete the picture the LED strip located on the bottom of the notebook, which runs along three sides to make the laptop really tamarro, and the materials. In fact, to contain costs, ASUS has mainly opted for the plastic which makes the product a little less premium but also lowers its weight, which stops at 2,30 kg. Not bad for a gaming laptop.

ASUS ROG Strix G15 Electro Punk monta a 15,6-inch display with Full HD resolution and an update frequency of 144 Hz. The panel is a vIPS and the rendering is quite similar to that offered by TN panels. We will therefore not have super saturated and vivid colors and not even a particularly wide sRGB color space coverage. The yield, however, is absolutely satisfactory, especially during gaming sessions, with Microsoft Flight Simulator which is equally spectacular and SpiritFarer who does not give up on its magical sunset.
To have us a little disappointed are the frames, which are quite contained on three sides but very (and unnecessarily) abundant on the bottom. All of this makes it even less understandable the absence of the webcam. Yes, you got it right: there is no front camera for video calls or for any live streaming. To carry out these activities you will therefore need an external webcam, which will thus occupy a USB port or even the only USB-C port available.

Keyboard and touchpad
The keyboard of ASUS ROG Strix G15 Electro Punk is really comfortable in everyday use. Key travel is particularly satisfying and everything you need is there, included 5 additional buttons which allow you to manage the volume, mute the microphone, change the operating mode of the fans and open Armoury Crate, ASUS proprietary software dedicated to notebook management.
The latter allows you, among other things, to manage the RGB lighting of the keyboard and the LED strip that we find on the bottom of the notebook. So you can choose the pattern and colors you like best. And if you want to customize the experience, just use the app Aura Creator, which allows you to create new combinations or to synchronize the lighting of the ROG Strix G15 with the music you are listening to.
Now to the touch pad. The latter is not particularly large, it is accompanied by two buttons (left and right mouse button) and it performs pretty well although, for gaming sessions, you will need a real mouse.

Under the body ASUS ROG Strix G15 Electro Punk hosts in our case an Intel Core i7-10750H processor, 16 GB of RAM, the graphics card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti con 6 GB GDDR6 VRAM and a 512GB SSD.
The result? You do pretty much everything with it.
We used this gaming laptop for daily work, enjoyed Microsoft Flight Simulator (but not in Ultra details), watched some movies and TV series on Netflix and used it to edit 4K and Full HD videos. . In all these cases we have never had any problems, difficulties or slowdowns. In short, ROG Strix G15 really is reliable and ready for anything.
The battery also lived up to our expectations, helping us cover a maximum of 6 hours. Sure, you won't be able to use it for the whole working day but that's not why you should choose the G15 Electro Punk.
The audio is not very exciting: the volume is not very high and the bass is very unsatisfactory. A real shame, especially if you love shooters and "explosive" titles.
The software
Finally, we come to the software. We obviously have on board Windows 10, flanked by three different ASUS software. The first is the aforementioned Armory Crate which allows you to check the performance of your PC, change modes (Silent, Performance, Turbo and Manual), make updates and even define the behavior of the display, changing its rendering and color temperature according to the type of game chosen.
The second program is Aura Create which, as explained above, is meant to handle RGB lighting, while the third is called MyASUS and you can take advantage of it for troubleshooting, driver updates and battery settings. In fact, you can opt for three different ways:
- Maximum capacity, ideal for days when you are on the go and use your laptop regularly;
- Balanced, designed for meetings and conferences;
- Maximum life cycle, to extend the life cycle of the battery allowing a maximum recharge of 60%.

ASUS ROG Strix G15 Electro Punk, in the configuration tested by us, it is for sale at 1399 euro. For this figure, bring home a gaming notebook that guarantees excellent performance, an original design and a really well-made keyboard. Of course, the display and audio are not perfect but more than enough to play games or watch a movie alone.
