The POCO X3 isn't exactly a featherweight

At the constitution level, the POCO X3 is a really great mobile. At first touch it seemed to us sturdy and solid (I couldn't drop it like I do my phones, but I'm sure it would have held up well). Although it is almost completely made of plastic, it seems quite resistant and well made. Only the frame made, instead, in aluminum alloy. The display is covered with a Gorilla Glass 5, excellent against scratches. The only flaw? The weight. We speak, in fact, of 250 grams.

Despite the weight, however, it is a fairly mobile phone comfortable to handle. The surface is quite extensive, so to reach all its parts with one hand you have to tinker a little, but it's not impossible to do it. The dimensions are 165,3 x 76,8 x 9,4 mm. We don't mind the design, it's not quite sober, but, for a rather cheap model, it's not bad at all. The Retro, made of plastic, it's shiny and shows in the center a strip with very dense lines, interrupted by the written POCO.
Always behind, we also find a particular module for the camera: this is positioned in the upper center, in the upper part. A little unusual position, but not to be ignored for this. As with other models, it protrudes about 2 mm from the base, which is why it is important to use it with care.

The right side contains the dedicated volume buttons and the power button; on the opposite side, however, we have the compartment for the sim. On the lower and upper part we find the audio jack from 3.5 mm, the door USB-C for charging, speakers and the IR sensor.

We see it well even if it is not AMOLED

Before moving on to the innermost features, let's talk about the . The POCO X3 features a 6,67-inch screen with an FHD + (2400 x 1080p) resolution. The most interesting part is the refresh rate which can reach a maximum of 120 Hz, as well as having a touch sampling rate di 240 Hz. Although it is not an AMOLED, we cannot say that we are dissatisfied, not even a little. L'image is always very clean and sharp, but above all all the animations are absolutely fluid. We also liked the colors, very vivid and bright.

As for the viewing angles, these are also not bad at all, on the contrary, it is possible to see very well practically in every position. There brightness is very good and allowed us to read without problems in any light condition. In detail we have 450 nit (typ) / 380 (min) and 1500: 1 contrast, support for 2.0 reading modes and HDR10 technology.
Furthermore, within the settings it is possible to select between three different color profiles which will help us find the best setting for our sight. The POCO X3 review: cheap, but full of potential

POCO X3 has a nice standard equipment

Going into the details, we see that the POCO X3 is equipped with state-of-the-art hardware. Let's find a SoC Snapdragon 732G (8nm): CPU octa core da 2,3 GHz. The whole is topped off with a Adreno GPU 618. In outline we find 6 GB of RAM, 64/128 GB of storage (expandable up to 256 GB), LTE connectivity up to 400 Mbps, chip NFC and Bluetooth 5.1. There is no shortage of 3.5 mm headphone jack, dual band Wi-Fi ac, fingerprint reader and infrared port.

Excellent battery: the POCO X3 is equipped with 5160 mAh that are really perfect. The duration is good even at the 120 Hz screen settings. With this setting, we have no problem withstanding a full day. The time doubles halving the display frequency. Fast charging, thanks to the supplied 33W power supply.

At the software level, the POCO X3 comes out with MIUI 12, the interface that you either love madly or hate. As for me (maybe because I've been using Xiaomi for a lifetime) it's really good. It is feature rich and fully customizable. The basic aesthetic aspect is sober, essential and very usable. The POCO X3 review: cheap, but full of potential

How does it work in the field?

We tried the POCO X3 for a couple of weeks using it for a little bit of everything. For calling, surfing, texting, it's perfect. No problems during our calls, clear and precise audio. Our interlocutors have always heard us well and we have heard them. The cell phone also performed very well when reading e-mails and using it a little more "office".

Performance has turn out to be interesting even when launching gaming-related applications. The POCO X3, in fact, has the wording 732G in the name of its SoC, where G stands for gaming. For this reason, we also used it for that. We received excellent responses, no nuisance: everything was fluid and fully usable. The POCO X3 review: cheap, but full of potential

Even in photography he does not do badly: we have one 64 MP main chamber, a 13MP wide-angle, a 2MP macro and a 2MP depth-of-field detection. To give you an idea of what the quality of the photos can be, we leave you a gallery with some captured images.

POCO X3: do we buy it?

Il POCO X3 is a really interesting smartphone, especially for the price to which it is sold. We are speaking, in fact, of a product costing about € 200 (for the 64 GB version) and about € 50 more for the 128 GB version. A mobile phone economic which manages, however, to fulfill all the functions for which it was designed. Great in everyday use thanks to a good fluidity, excellent autonomy and the presence of all the essential functions.

There is also a hardware capable of running more full-bodied applications: we can use it to play and to move without any problem. The display is very beautiful, crisp, clear, clean. Do we really have to find a fault in it? Weight. This is the only real flaw that you can find in this interesting super cheap smartphone.
