Acer Swift X anteprima design

Acer swift x will arrive in Italy in July starting from 999€ but no, it's not just an addition to one of the most popular notebook series in the world. Swift X is the first to have a dedicated GPU which can make an important contribution in terms of performance. We know, you are already thinking about gaming but in reality this is not exactly its target. Acer Swift X is a sleek, lightweight and perfect laptop for working on the go. But don't imagine the classic "remote working", sitting at your desk to check presentations and Excel: the newcomer allows you to take advantage of the GPU for photo editing, design, video editing and much more.

La double coloring is the first element you will notice. In fact, Swift X comes with a colored lid - blue in our case - which differs from the metallic gray of the rest of the body. The detachment is clear, and includes a strip on the main body that houses the ash pan and the opening dedicated to cooling the notebook. It is an unusual and original solution that convinced us and that gives personality to Swift X.

The second aspect that will catch your attention is the weight: 1,39 kg. Decontextualized and compared to other similar notebooks, this data may not surprise you particularly but you have to go further and think about what's inside: an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti card. An element that normally affects weight and dimensions a lot but does not actually seem to have affected the spirit of the Swift line, which has always aimed to offer compact, complete and easily portable laptops.

The department also embraces this philosophy connectivity which, in addition to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, offers 2 USB-A, a USB-C (also suitable for power supply), an HDMI and a 3,5 mm jack. This makes it Acer Swift X suitable for any type of scenario: from using additional peripherals and external hard drives to connecting a larger monitor if you need it.

Speaking of displays, the new notebook of the Asian giant comes with a 14-inch IPS panel with FullHD resolution and a coverage of the 100% sRGB color space. The finish is opaque and in daily use it will make a big difference, especially if you work in very bright environments: no unpleasant reflections and no unreadable information.

Also satisfactory keyboard which proposes the now inevitable island keys, naturally backlit to allow you to work even in the dark. Acer has also incorporated a number of vents right inside the keyboard that contribute to heat dissipation, heat that is also reduced thanks to the Stereo Ring fan - which sucks in more air and increases its circulation - and a mode dedicated to cooling the system that you can activate with a simple combination of keys.

We didn't mind either touch pad. It's not very big but, in the course of our short test, it felt like it very responsive, as well as compatible with Windows 10 gestures.
On its right there is also the fingerprint reader, now essential to keep your data safe and access your notebook in seconds. Instead, the sensors necessary for face recognition are missing, so the fingerprint is the only biometric recognition method available.

To animate all this we find the AMD Ryzen 7 5800U processor, 16 GB of RAM and an SSD up to 2TB, in addition to the aforementioned graphics card NVIDIA RTX GeForce 3050 Ti. All this should meet the needs of most users, including the slightly more demanding ones, accustomed to programs that benefit from the acceleration offered by the GPU. It might also satisfy fans of video games. Not all, mind you. As we said at the beginning it is not his vocation, but you can take some whim off anyway.

But to really put it to the test, and also find out how the 59 Wh battery behaves, you will have to wait for the actual review. In the meantime we remind you that Acer swift x is coming next month to go from € 999.
