The Razer Seiren Mini Review: A vintage-looking microphone with excellent sound

Razer returns to the attack towards the world of streaming with a new microphone: the Razer Seiren Mini. It is a product very compact, with an attractive price, but above all very nice. Well yes, I don't think there is a word best to describe it. We are talking about a wired object, available in three different colors, which can be positioned with its base or placed comfortably in a stand. Soft shapes and compact dimensions also make it an adorable object, not only on an aesthetic level.

Among other features we find a high-precision supercardioid sensing system and an anti-shock mount. For a price of around 60/70 €, will the Razer Seiren Mini really suit our needs?
We have tested it extensively during our LIVE on Twitch; here is our review.

Razer Seiren Mini too cute not to be used

Il The Razer Seiren Mini is a very compact condenser microphone, its dimensions are approx 16 cm in height and 9 cm in width (6.4 "and 3.5"). It was designed to fit into minimal and elegant workstations. Inside the package we find a circular base which allows us to place it directly on the desk. This one features a non-slip rubber coating really useful and functional. The small rod on the base also allows you to rotate the microphone to direct it perfectly towards our mouth. If, on the other hand, we prefer to insert it on a rod or a movable arm, we could do it. You can install the microphone conveniently on mounts with 5/8 inch threads. Il Razer Seiren Mini is available in three different colors: black, Mercury and Quartz. The latter is the version we tested. With this livery, we have a pink color both on the base and support, and on the underside of the microphone itself. There top (consisting of grid and connecting ring) is of light gray color. To the center then we find the word "Razer", barely perceptible, made of a slightly lighter gray.
On an aesthetic level, with this particular color, it seems to be dealing with a a bit vintage microphone. These rounded shapes, this light pink which, depending on the light, looks just like a pastel color, make it a classic 80s object and we love it. Placed on the desk, it feels like an old recording studio.

The very small size, Furthermore, they are perfect for streamers who want to keep attention focused on them. On video it is practically imperceptible in most configurations. If shown, however, it gives a very compact, clean and sober look. It is also quite light and this allows for carry it around without any particular problems. Plug and Play: nothing simpler

Although Razer has excellent management software, Synapse 3.0, the Razer Seiren Mini is a simple Plug and Play. What does it mean? Means that just connect the cable to the microphone and then to your computer and you will be able to use it. The advantage is that, in a few seconds, you will have a fully functional tool at your disposal. The downside, however, is that you won't be able to tweak tones and EQs from dedicated proprietary software. Not bad, since there are several in circulation. Furthermore, through the different Streamlabs, OBS, etc, you can manage noise and gain reductions without problems.

Let's go inside

Il Razer Seiren Mini is a high-precision supercardioid microphone, but what does it mean? It means perfectly picks up the sound coming from the front, excludes side sounds and lets some of the sound from the back through. Unlike the normal cardioid which instead lets only the front sound pass.

Getting a little more technical, we have one sampling rate which starts from a minimum of 44,1 kHZ and reaches a maximum of 48 kHz, for an bit rate at 16 bits it's a frequency response from 20Hz to 20kHz. We also have one sensitivity of 17,8 mV / Pa (at 1 kHz), a level of maximum sound pressure of 110 dB (DAT> 1% at 1kHz) and a power supply / consumption of 5V 500mA.

The recording quality is decidedly good, thanks to a 14 mm condenser capsule and a flat frequency response. The Razer Seiren Mini Review: A vintage-looking microphone with excellent sound

How do you hear the sound of the Razer Seiren Mini?

We have seen some technicalities of the Razer Seiren Mini and now it's time to put it to the test. How did the microphone actually behave? Before giving you our impressions, we leave you a taste of the recording and we remind you that, even during all our LIVE on Twitch, I make personal use of it. There recording that we put there is made without any post-production processing; during streams, on the other hand, a noise reduction filter integrated directly into Streamlabs OBS is applied.

The microphone is well structured and, in fact, the sound of our voice is picked up in an excellent way. THE background noises are quite isolated and they don't cover our voice. In the recording you can barely perceive the noise of the many fans of the PC (8 to be exact). On the other hand, what is picked up most strongly is the sound of the keyboard. In this sense, however, there are very few microphones that, by themselves, are able to eliminate this noise.
The resulting sound is quite balanced, the highs are not emphasized too much and the bass is not boomy and unnatural. This results in a clear and clean voice, but perhaps not too bright if your sound isn't very high-pitched.

Even from a distance the sound is well picked up; during live broadcasts I usually keep the microphone about 60 cm from my mouth and, despite this, no sound has ever been lost.
Furthermore hissing sounds are not too annoyingunless you are too close to the microphone. The Razer Seiren Mini Review: A vintage-looking microphone with excellent sound

Razer Seiren Mini: approved?

The Razer Seiren Mini is a very good microphone indeed. The sound is clean and crisp and his answers are excellent. It performs very well in any situation, although it is not a high-end product. It is a semplice plug and play, it has no buttons to change the gain and has no accompanying software. It is easy to use and can be managed through other applications by reducing noise or increasing the gain.

The style is great, compact, elegant and easy to carry. IS perfect for streaming and, with the right support, also for recordings. She behaves well from near and far, perfectly picks up the voice and manages to remove some background noise. THEIn short, a great product for those who want to dive into the world of Twitch, without spending exaggerated amounts.
