Extremely large display, excellent autonomy and a satisfying camera: these are the key elements of Xiaomi Note 5 Redmire, the Chinese smartphone that aims to conquer the mid-range of the market. But how does it behave in everyday use? To find out, we mistreated him for two weeks.

Be careful though, this does not mean that Redmi Note 5 is not a good device. There metal back cover and the plastic edges come together perfectly, the build quality is excellent and the grip is really excellent. The choice to place the fingerprint reader on the back of the device should also be noted, which allowed Xiaomi to maximize the space dedicated to the display.

The screen, with an aspect ratio of 18: 9, thus reaches 5,99 inches and allows you to surf the Internet and watch videos in complete peace of mind, also thanks to the extremely high maximum brightness.

A terrific battery

The dual camera of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5

The performances are flawless of this Xiaomi Redmi Note 5. The Chinese smartphone in fact behaves very well in any situation, thanks to both the hardware (Snapdragon 636 with 3GB of RAM) and the software. In fact we have on board Android 8.0 Oreo, Flanked by MIUI v9 that is fluid and intuitive. Of course, there are some perplexities, but it concerns exclusively the graphics of the Xiaomi interface. A defect that, however, depends on my personal tastes more than on a real lack on the part of the Asian giant. Indeed, MIUI is particularly rich from the point of view of functions. Just think of the possibility of duplicating the system to have a private space, the simplified mode and the inevitable gestures that allow you to remove the navigation bar.

The real strength of Redmi Note 5, however, is the battery. These 4.000 mAh not only allowed me to make it to the end of the day, but even covered two full days. In short, you definitely won't have to rush to look for a charger in the middle of the afternoon. On the contrary, you will be free not to charge your smartphone overnight and then use it again the next morning.

An average camera

Double rear camera for this Redmi Note 5, one 12 megapixel and one 5 megapixel. However, do not expect miraculous shots: the photos obtained are in fact more than fair in good lighting conditions but quickly lose appeal in the dark. Nothing surprising given that this defect brings together practically all devices in this range. The same goes for selfies too, with a 13 megapixel sensor that helps you get pretty good shots in light and a little less convincing in the dark.

Finally, let's move on to the videos. Here too Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 turns out to be average, thanks to electronic stabilization che does an excellent clearing job. Beware though: no 4K this smartphone.

Buy it or not buy it?

Finally, I would like to point out that the device is already on sale both at the Mi Store in Arese and in the main chain stores. Four colors available: Light blue, pink, gold and black.
