As you may know, Apple occupies the media scene this Monday, June 7 with its new WWDC 2021 conference dedicated to developers. Of course, the apple brand took the opportunity to unveil many new features to come on iOS15 and iPadOS 15 such as multitasking. In response to Google and Android 12, the Cupertino company also dedicated part of its conference to new features related to privacy and confidentiality, in particular on Mail and Safari, with the possibility of automatically hiding its IP address and its location.

Apple Wallet, the application which makes it possible to store means of payment, your public transport service subscription cards or your student cards in a secure enclave, will also be equipped with new functions. Thereby, it will soon be possible to use your iPhone as a digital ID.

Indeed, the user will be able to scan his driving license or his identity card, and then store them in the application in digital format, all in the secure enclave of his iPhone. Initially, this feature will only be available in participating US states. Apple also specifies that it works hand in hand with the TSA, the United States National Transportation Safety Agency, to allow iPhone to be used as ID at various security checkpoints in airports and train stations.

In addition to secure identification, Apple also works with many US hotels. The goal is to distribute the access keys to the rooms via Apple Wallet. Thus, customers will be able to collect their key directly from the application, even before arriving at their hotel.

Finally, Apple reaffirmed that it regularly adds car unlock functions by using the support of the Ultra WideBand of iPhone 11 and iPhone 12. The Cupertino company is actively collaborating with several car manufacturers like BMW or Mercedes to open this functionality to the greatest number.
