Amazon Music is finally coming to Google TV dongles and Android TVs and mediacenters. Years after other platforms, the streaming service's application finally arrives. It seems that this ignition delay is linked to the friction that has existed between the two firms for years.
Amazon and Google aren't always best friends. In fact the two firms even seem to regularly shoot each other at each other - because, it is according to their dominant position in certain markets, and the fierce competition they maintain in many sectors, products and services.
So, oCan't find some Google apps and services in the Amazon ecosystem Alexa / Fire TV, and vice versa, some Amazon services are not available in the Google product ecosystem / Chromecast. One of the biggest remaining omissions was arguably the lack of an Amazon Music app for Google TV and Android TV.
Have Amazon and Google finally buried the hatchet?
Our colleagues at The Verge tell us that Amazon Music is finally coming to these devices. For the moment the application is only available on the latest Chromecast, and Android TV, but it is also being deployed on Google TV and should therefore be available there in the next few hours.
For the rest, Amazon Music will work there exactly as on other platforms, with a formula that looks like Spotify, YouTube Music or Apple Music. The service is billed at € 9,99 per month, exactly like its competitors (Prime subscribers can subscribe to it annually for € 99, ie two months free).
In addition, the service counts more than 60 million tracks, and it is possible to download your playlists to listen to them offline. Amazon Music offers multiple levels of audio quality. Most of the tracks are in “HD” which means CD quality.
But the platform also has many titles in Ultra HD (up to 24 bits, 192 kHz and speed up to 3730 kbps). To enjoy the service on your Google TV or Android TV, you must go to the Play Store on these devices and download the application.
