Razer Viper review: the light and performing gaming mouse

Razer Viper is the latest device of the US company, a gaming mouse flanked by the slogan "Absolute Control". Yes, because the goal is to give players - including pro gamers - the tools to be precise and performing. All while spending 89,99 euro. But is this great little investment worth it? We talk about it in this review.

Password: lightness

Razer Viper was born for eSports, a vocation evidenced by the design: minimal and without frills. No particular signs for him. Even the dimensions are smaller than the competition, a plus particularly appreciated by those who - like me - do not have very large hands.

What makes it even more anonymous, albeit pleasantly accessible, is its being ambidextrous. A feature that we don't always find on gaming mice, often dedicated primarily to right-handers, and that we really appreciated on the Razer Viper.

Present as usual the two main keys, however, equipped with optical switches of the American company, switches that use an infrared light beam to record the click, guaranteeing a response time of only 0,2 ms. Then there are two additional buttons on either side of the mouse, naturally programmable with dedicated software, and finally the classic wheel. And the PPE button? We find it, surprisingly, on the bottom of the device. An anomalous but well-studied solution: this position prevents players from accidentally clicking the button by accidentally changing this parameter.

All this is enclosed in an extremely light body, covered in rubber, with excellent grip and very discreet LED lighting. No improvised Christmas trees, just a small logo that can change color to your liking.

Finally we have the SpeedFlex cable, made of woven fabric and designed to be incredibly flexible so as not to hinder any type of movement.

Razer Viper review: the proof

But how does the Razer Viper perform in the field? Really very good. The 16.000 DPI of the 5G sensor guarantees fluidity and speed, while the opto-mechanical keys help you to have a quick and satisfying response. I used it to play Overwatch and I really have nothing to complain about: the feedback is convincing and precise, perfect not only for lovers of adrenaline-pumping FPS but, above all, for those aiming for professionalism.

There are also customizable buttons to help you in-game. In fact, by default you need them to go Forward and Backward, but you can always associate them with other keys - or any Macros - using Razer Synapse 3.

The software also allows you to set 5 DPI levels, set the polling frequency, modify the lighting effects and calibrate the mouse according to the type of mouse pad you are using.

Razer Viper: buy it or not?

Razer Viper is undoubtedly a great gaming mouse: it is very light, fast and equipped with all the functions you need. In short, if you love competitive video games and want cutting-edge equipment, this Viper is for you.

All this, however, has a cost: 89,99 euro. An important figure, perhaps not suitable for novice gamers, but certainly justified by the quality of the product.
