[Review] Sony Bravia OLED A1: what a sight!

Sony Bravia A1 is the first TV OLED of the Japanese giant, a monster available in three different cuts, from 55, 65 and 77 inches, and landed on the market last year. Will it be worth buying? To find out, we tried it for a few weeks.

A minimal design

Sony Bravia A1 shows up with an absolutely unusual and elegant design. In fact, the panel is svery thin and almost frameless and is supported by a fixed inclination support which not only guarantees stability to the apparatus but collects all the electronics around it.

On the back we find 4 HDMI ports, 3 USB ports, an ethernet port, the optical digital audio output and the analog audio / video input. Obviously there is no lack of headphone output and WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity; also present Chromecast integrated, so you will be free to play the contents on your smartphone without problems.

Finally, the operating system is Android TV, based on version 6.0 of the Google operating system.

Unmatched quality

The OLED panel that we find on this Sony Bravia A1 is produced by LG but the technology that guarantees excellent quality is due to Sony and its processor. X1 Extreme. The result is practically flawless: we have deep blacks, the absence of the banding effect and realistic colors.

As always, above the average l'upscaling. The algorithm X-Reality Pro Sony allows you to enjoy Full HD content without regretting the native 4K too much. Sony Bravia A1 encounters some more difficulties with SD content and classic TV channels. The Japanese television does its best and it becomes impossible to ignore the compression artifacts.

Sony Bravia A1 and Acoustic Surface technology

To distinguish Sony Bravia A1 from the competition also thinks about it tecnologia Acoustic Surface. This system frees the TV from the classic front speakers to take advantage of it instead four transducers located on the rear of the panel.

The solution adopted by the Japanese manufacturer not only allows the TV to have an absolutely minimal design but also guarantees an absolutely convincing sound experience. Of course, there is still room for improvement, just think of the lack of mids and limited bass, but all in all it allows you to watch your favorite movies and immerse yourself in the heart of the action.
