RIG 700HD review: the super lightweight wireless gaming headset

A necessary premise: the RIG 700HD they are dedicated PC gamers only.

Don't worry, it doesn't mean that console lovers necessarily have to focus on another brand. For Xbox and PlayStation owners there are the RIG 700HX and RIG 700HS respectively. Same features, but different platforms. What you will read in this review is therefore hopefully also associated with the other two models of the family.

RIG 700HD review: comfort above all else

The RIG 700HD are very far from traditional gaming headsets: they are not bulky, do not have an aggressive design and do not come with various and possible LEDs.

This headset is minimal, also suitable for those who work with headphones and, above all, Modular. Yes, because unlike the others, here it is possible to separate the arch from the pavilions. But what is this unusual solution for? First of all, adjust them according to the size of your skull. At your disposal you have 3 different holes in which to fit the pavilions. A solution perhaps less comfortable than the traditional ones, but certainly more solid and difficult to modify. The second reason concerns the general construction of the headset: RIG's approach in fact makes the 700HD - but also all the other headphones that share this design - extremely light. They also remain very flexible, so they won't break even when you throw them against the wall during some tantrums.

In everyday life, this can only make the user experience extremely pleasant: in fact, the low weight allows you to wear them practically always, both for playing and for working.  I guarantee you will hardly remember wearing it.

They also contribute to overall comfort the pads in breathable fabric which, unlike those of imitation leather, will not make you sweat even in the hottest periods of the year and will give you good sound insulation in the meantime.

They are then immediate buttons and small wheels present on the left pavilion. Even if you don't look at what you are doing, you will immediately find the dial to lower and raise the volume, the one to balance the chat and game audio and the button that allows you to change the microphone. Finally, there is a button dedicated to pairing with it usb dongle that you will need to connect to the PC, a necessary step to use the headset.

And the cables? There are not. No 3,5 mm jack to use when the battery - which guarantees about 12 hours of autonomy - leaves you. In fact, inside the package you only have an optical cable, the USB cable for charging and the microphone that yes, can be connected and disconnected if necessary.

The user experience

But aesthetics and comfort are not everything. When it comes to headsets, it is essential to be able to count on a satisfying acoustic experience, a parameter fully satisfied by the RIG 700HD. 40mm drivers, bass tube and Windows Surround support guarantee a good rendition, with deep bass and detailed mids. All this allows you to be extremely reactive in game, anticipating - as much as possible - your opponents, but also to enjoy movies and music without missing anything.

I also found the ability to be particularly useful balance chat and game audio in seconds, so you don't miss out on conversations with teammates when needed, without sacrificing too much game sound.

RIG 700HD review: buy them or not?

In Italy RIG is not particularly well known and it is a real shame. In my opinion they represent a pleasant alternative to the best known brands and above all to all the mammoth and futuristic headsets we have been used to. I found the RIG 700HD in particular suitable for any environment and situation: you can use them at home, on the road (as long as there is room for the dongle) or in the office. Nothing will betray your gamer soul, without giving up a quality user experience, both for comfort and for acoustic performance.

All a 129,99 €, a very acceptable price considering the quality of the product.
