Here comes the hole!

Aesthetically, this Galaxy S10 + does not differ much from its predecessor. Yes, change the position of the on and off button, located slightly higher, but everything else is really identical to the Galaxy S9 +, including the much loved 3,5mm jack and speaker. The other speaker is found inside the ear capsule, a capsule positioned perhaps a little too high. Don't worry though, you'll just have to get used to hitting your ear well.

To be new it is the 6,4-inch dynamic AMOLED display which includes the infamous double hole. This solution not only offers rich and vibrant colors but also minimizes bezels without affecting the actual size of the device. The only real flaw is the absence of the notification LED. Yes, it's true, the double hole is surrounded by a very thin row of LEDs which, however, are not used for this purpose, but only in the unlocking phase or as a countdown for selfies.

Samsung has tried to remedy this by entering the menu in the Settings Edge lighting, which allows you to take advantage of the edges of the display to signal the presence of calls, messages, emails and notifications of all kinds. A rather original idea which, however, did not completely convince me.

On the back we find the glass and metal body e an excellent oleophobic treatment. No, no fingerprint reader on the back. In fact, you can find it under the display and it is one of the unlocking methods available. Alongside him the inevitable face recognition.

The importance of machine learning

Samsung Galaxy S10 + is a real top of the range. The Exynos 9820 processor, combined with 8 GB of RAM and the Mali-G76 MP12 GPU, gives you all the power you need. The new interface, on the other hand, baptizes OneUI, puts you in front of a strongly customized device from Samsung but absolutely pleasant to use. Everything is clear, clean and decidedly balanced.

What about the battery? It actually performs very well but you have to give it time. Artificial intelligence and machine learning take about 10-15 days to adapt to your habits, so before being scandalized by the autonomy of the device remember to give it time. After a couple of weeks of running in he will begin to give you a lot of satisfaction, trust me.

Then I remind you that Samsung Galaxy S10 + can count on Reverse Charging. This means that it can charge any device you decide to place on it, including smartphones and wearables. Provided of course that they are compatible with wireless charging. Compared to Huawei Mate 20, the first to offer this system, the new top of the Korean range offers one more functionality: reverse charging - which can be activated thanks to the menu Wireless Power Share - it works even when the smartpone is charging.

The debut of the wide angle

Samsung Galaxy S10 + does not skimp on the photographic sector. In fact, there are 5 different cameras, 3 rear and 2 front. On the back we have, from left to right:

  • a 12 megapixel telephoto lens;
  • the main sensor with variable aperture of 12 megapixels;
  • the ultra-wide 16 megapixel camera.

Yes, you got it right. The wide angle has finally arrived on the Galaxy S series and the result is really good. Of course, as with all wide-angle lenses, the details get lost a bit when zooming in, but what matters is the glance. The other two sensors that will give you are also excellent vivid, rich and quite detailed images. On board too artificial intelligence which, however, did not completely convince me: every now and then he intervenes with his leg straight and makes the shot perhaps a little unnatural, but nothing really worrying.

Then I would like to point out the presence of the new one Instagram mode, which turns your photographs into Stories, while it is there is no manual night mode. The AI will decide when to activate it or not, you will have to adapt.

On the front we have a 10 megapixel main sensor and a second 8 megapixel sensor dedicated to depth. Together they allow you to achieve great selfies and a convincing bokeh effect.

Samsung Galaxy S10+: buy it or not buy it?

Samsung Galaxy S10 + is certainly not cheap. 1029 € there are many but it is really worth them all. T.in fact, finding defects is almost impossible: the design is captivating, the double hole convincing, the performances are at the top, the battery takes you to the end of the day without problems and the camera is, as usual, a guarantee. In short, if you are looking for a real top of the range, Samsung Galaxy S10 + is definitely for you.
