Witches, the Power of Three - Why Watch It?

Why look at it is the new Tech Princess column, edited by Mattia Chiappani and Veronica Lorenzini, in which they reveal why you should watch a certain TV series: the chosen series of the day is Witches (Charmed), late 90s TV series finally available on Amazon Prime Video.

The Power of Three: Why Should You Watch Charmed?

You are still waiting for the Korean TV series, I know. I can hear you through the keys on the keyboard but, as I have already mentioned, do not worry why return. But now we absolutely have to discover one of the TV series that, together with Buffy - The Vampire Slayer, made the 90s even more. interesting e full of life. I'm talking about Witches, also known as Charmed (you have to write that otherwise you won't find it on Amazon Prime Video).

It is a genre television series fantasy, aired between 1998 and the early 2000s. Streghe tells the story of the Halliwell sisters: Prue, the largest, Piper e Phoebe. The three sisters discover that they are modern witches and over the seasons they will learn to use their powers, become stronger and stronger and will be forced to deal with the forces of evil that, of course, want to kill them.

Our Prue, Piper and Phoebe are witches very powerful, are predestined to be the strongest in historyto. Individually they are weaker but when they are together and use the Power of the Trio, they are unstoppable.

It's one of those TV series from take it slow - unless she takes you so much that you have to go binge watching for a week. The series consists of eight seasons of 22 episodes one (excluding the fifth and sixth which count 23).

When I was little I used to see her on TV very often because my mother is a huge fan of Charmed. Obviously though, when you are small, it is difficult to keep up with the whole story and understand what is happening - also because, often and willingly, I took a nap between one episode and another. I was three or four, you can't blame me.

Growing up then I realized I have a lot of gaps at the same time, curiosity about some couples and events that I hardly remembered. So I decided to do a nice rewatch to fill in these horrible gaps and stayed extremely amazed from the genius of this series.

Captivating storyline and characters with a story

Witches, the Power of Three - Why Watch It?

One of the main aspects of the series, as the title also suggests, is the presence of numerous references to popular folklore. Within the series we find both references to true folk legends but also fictitious creatures, made especially for the world of our three sisters.

In eight seasons the authors have had the opportunity to give vent their creativity and as you go forward, the story acquires more and more substance, it becomes more solid, concrete and full of new demons, ghosts, shapeshifters and so many other things.

Analyzing physical aspect of these creatures, considering the period in which the series was made, I feel very satisfied. The speech is the same as I did for Buffy (remember?). The enemies of the three sisters are a lot simple but at the same time impact, there are who knows what special effects and it is this detail that manages to bring out their beauty - that is, yes, you understand.

Eight seasons, as you can imagine, is a lot. I admit I noticed a slight decline in the fourth but it is totally justified and you will understand why. Despite this small hitch, the plot going well: the first season is a more separate element, with self-contained episodes e distant from each other.

From the second season, however, things take a different turn and situations, characters, important details begin to form they will develop over the seasons. The authors begin to give the best of themselves, offering the viewer a much more concrete guiding thread e understandable.

Similarly to this you must know that the first season is slightly slow, you need to give it the time to get the most out of it but trust that once you get to the end, the road is all downhill. Each season offers us new characters e with a story, a flawless characterization e unique personalities.

Prue, Piper and Phoebe are very different from each other and this is one of their strengths. I really liked the fact that the authors showed three sisters so different between them but also so united, full of energy and strength. Here the proverb "unity is strength" is always present and shows us how much sisters actually do need each other.

Magical story, forbidden loves and inner strength

Witches, the Power of Three - Why Watch It?

Do you remember the forbidden love story between Buffy, the huntress destined to kill vampires, and Angel, the mysterious and fascinating vampire? Very well, my dear friends, know that here too you will find one forbidden love story worth living and that will make us suffer. Ultimately though, what do we care about suffering, we live for this kind of thing.

Personally I love them, in a way they are mine lifeblood and this forbidden story present in Charmed gave me satisfactions e happiness - mixed with suffering and pain, yes. Of course I can't tell you anything, so I invite you to run over to Prime Video and start this wonderful series.

But there is one element that I appreciated even more and it is the fact that even our three sisters, despite being witches, they have moments of difficulty. Moments of sadness, in which they feel weak, human. I think it's one of the key elements of the series because it allows us to learn more about a side of Piper, Pure and Phoebe that we often forget, which is the fact that they are still human.

Let's put aside the powers, the demons, the angels (yes, there are those too) and all these imaginative things: the protagonists they have feelings and they happen to too feel bad, of suffer. I think it is useful and interesting to show this side, especially for younger generations. Often and willingly, when we talk about supernatural beings, superheroes or other, we easily forget the fact that, in the end, they are like us.

They are human too and this aspect, in the past, has been very useful to me.

So why should you watch Charmed?

Witches, the Power of Three - Why Watch It?

Charmed is a story of sisterhood, interior strenght, love e friendship. It is a TV series that can show how important it is to stay united, believe in yourself and in the people who love us. It is a series characterized by a very interesting plot, sometimes endearing and that transports us.

Starting with the second season, each episode connects to the next, offering us small pieces that at the end of the season, they allow us to rebuild the whole situation and understand. The attention is always high, there are no boring moments - painful yes, I warn you - and there attention to detail It is surprising.

In a sense it is also constructive, I absolutely loved that Prue, Phoebe and Piper taught me a few defense spells against dark beings. Some sometimes worked, except for getting a good grade in math, sadly. The Book of Shadows then, a marvel - maybe I should have a crumpled and badly reproduced copy somewhere in my closet but I don't know how reliable it can be.

It's a very long series, I'm aware of that but one episode a day keeps the doctor away. If you are looking for a good story, with healthy values and strong and valiant Witches, this is the TV series for you. Spoiler: there are also fascinating demons e sweet angels so, dear readers, do your duty.

A long but magical series.
