Acer Nitro XV273K review: the high-end monitor dedicated to gamers

Resolution, refresh rate, response times and type of panel: the parameters to consider when choosing a monitor are now many and often you have to find some compresses. Often, but not always. This is the philosophy that led to the birth of Acer Nitro XV273K. But be careful: all this has a cost. Take you home il monitor LED UHD of the Taiwanese company will cost you 999 euro.

Solid and aggressive

Don't imagine a thin and fragile monitor. Nitro XV273K is none of this. The Acer monitor indeed is solid, robust and pre-assembled. This means that you will not have to use a screwdriver to attach the base or make it assume strange positions to connect it to the stand. Once extracted from the box it will be ready to serve you but, above all, to amaze you.

First of all, the overall look will surprise you: Nitro XV273K is quite massive, with a metal base and the right mix between an almost totally black body and a series of pleasantly red inserts. In short, a glance will suffice to understand its vocation: gaming. What makes it absolutely ergonomic is the possibility of adjusting its height and inclination, an inclination that can range from -5 ° to 25 °.

What about connectivity? In reality it is absolutely satisfactory: you have 2 HDMI, 2 DisplayPort, 4 USBs (two rear and two side) and the 3,5 mm jack for headphones.

The back also accommodates the stick and the 4 buttons that allow you to manage the menu. The solution adopted by Acer though I was not overly impressed. The abundance of buttons - which, I remind you, are located behind and therefore you cannot see - forces you to go practically groping, making mistakes often and willingly. Then add to this an OSD interface not exactly responsive and not always intuitive. Do not panic though: after a few days you will get used to it, the errors will become less and less frequent and in the end you will remember how to reach the menu items that interest you, including the management of Bottom LEDs. Yes, Acer Nitro XV273X is one of those RGB-lit monitors that can liven up your desk. Don't worry, you can turn off the LEDs at any time or simply opt for a relaxing configuration, especially ideal when you have to work.

But what is this Acer Nitro XV273K like?

Acer Nitro VX273K, as I mentioned earlier, comes up with one 27 inch IPS LED panel, a resolution of 3840 2160 pixels x and an update frequency of I am 144 Hz. Add to this a response time of 1 ms con Visual Response Boost, a brightness of 400 Nits and the inevitable support for NVIDIA G-Sync technology and Adaptive-Sync.

The features of Nitro XV273K, however, do not end there. The monitor also boasts VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification, which guarantees HDR quality based on luminance, color gamut, bit depth and rise time, while the sRGB color space is covered at 125% and the DCI-P3 at 90%.

What does all this mean? On balance, Acer's screen guarantees excellent performance with any type of video game: the colors are spectacular, the input lag is really minimal and the images flow on the display always fluid and defined. The Asian company has also thought about the well-being of users, integrating BlueLightShield and Flickerless technologies which reduce the fatigue of the eyes. For those who tend to get distracted, there are removable hoods, which are also useful for protecting the screen from prying eyes.

Acer Nitro XV273K: to buy it or not to buy it?

On balance Acer Nitro XV273K has everything a gamer needs. Of course, to achieve this without breaking the 1000 euro ceiling, the Taiwanese company had to make some sacrifices - such as the absence of local dimming - but in the end there is nothing you will really miss.

This monitor is not only suitable for gaming. Yes, the vocation is undeniable - the lower LEDs, the aggressive design and even the dedicated button for quick mode selection (useful for switching from driving games to FPS in a few moments) testify - but nothing prevents you from using it even for work. For example, I found it particularly convenient for video editing, but also for managing Excel, browsers and even Netflix. In fact, the high resolution allows you to keep an industrial amount of information on the screen, so you don't have to give up anything and you can work with serenity.

I know it, 999 € are not few, but Acer Nitro XV273K is a good investment, especially if you love competitive gaming.
