Everything we know about the iPhone 13

Until recently theiPhone 13 it just seemed like a distant mirage in Apple's manufacturing. But today we know that this is not the case at all. Apparently the company's chip supply partner, TSMC, will deliver the A15 chipset of the new smartphone by the end of May, thus bringing production back to pre-pandemic levels. This means that we could have the new iPhone on the market as early as September, just as happened for the iPhone 11. After just five months from the probable release date, let's see what all the news of the new Apple smartphone will be.

iPhone 13: all the news of the new smartphone from Apple

Design

Everything we know about the iPhone 13

The first real big news - as well as the most awaited - of the design of the new iPhone 13 is the notch size reduction, which will be visibly smaller than that of the current iPhone 12. According to some advances unveiled by YouTuber Lewis Hilsenteger, the Pro Max will have a notch that is 30% smaller than the previous model. A really important reduction when we consider that it contains all the components necessary for the functioning of Apple's Face ID facial recognition.

To be able to downsize the notch, in fact, the company has worked on the moving the speaker from the top of the display to the top edge of the smartphone frame. Indeed, on this occasion the development team also worked on a microphone improvement, now able to guarantee clearer audio thanks to beamforming. Another interesting detail concerns the rear camera design, on which Apple has intervened to reduce the thickness of the module.

According to some rumors, the cameras could have an increased thickness of 0.9 mm, but thanks to a "sapphire glass" cover they would be less bulky than they are in previous models. And, speaking of design, it is interesting to consider that the Cupertino company has thought of new colors for the iPhone 13, especially in the Pro and Pro Max variants. matte black. And Apple will add a new shade halfway between orange and bronze, which we are sure will win over the trendiest smartphone fans. Finally, the company has also improved the coating applied to the stainless steel frame of the phone, making it more resistant to stains and fingerprints.

Battery

We know that the battery of the iPhone 12 is certainly not the best. In an attempt to reduce its size compared to previous models, in fact, Apple ended up worsening its performance. The new iPhone 13, however, would appear to be up to 20% more efficient compared to the iPhone 12 in regards to energy performance. According to what was anticipated by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, better efficiency could be due to the provision of a larger battery, which would make the smartphone heavier than its predecessor - a compromise that we gladly accept, mind you! -.

“The new ‌iPhone‌ 2021 models feature a larger battery capacity than the iPhone 12 series, thanks to the space-saving design of many components. Hence, the new ‌iPhone‌ models are also slightly heavier than the iPhone 12‌. The space-saving design includes integrating the SIM card slot with the motherboard, reducing the thickness of the front optical modules, and more, ”said Kuo.

But we also know that the better battery efficiency of the new Apple smartphone is also linked to the equipment of the display LTPO OLED. Thanks to Pro Motion technology, the screen allows a variable refresh rate between 1 Hz and 120 Hz, thus significantly reducing battery consumption. Added to this is also the equipment of a new generation 5G modem and the A15 chip, designed to guarantee better performance and lower energy consumption.

Camera

Everything we know about the iPhone 13

The rear camera is one of the most anticipated details of the iPhone 13. And with good reason. Apparently, the camera will be bigger than 20% compared to previous models - albeit less bulky -. This means that the smartphone will be equipped with larger lenses, which ensure better image quality, especially in poor visibility conditions. This change particularly affects the Pro Max model, where the camera will reach the size of 16.99 mm (compared to 14.10 mm of the iPhone 12). But it seems that the iPhone 13 will also have an oversized camera, albeit "reduced" to just two modules.

As you can imagine, it will be the Pro and Pro Max models above all that will boast the most notable improvements. Apparently, in fact, Apple is working on optimizing the optical stabilization thanks to an advanced software. “Basically, when you focus on a target, that target will stay in the frame regardless of the shake of your hand. The operating system will automatically cut and crop, and stay focused on that image. " So the YouTuber Filip koroy, known as EverythingApple Pro, commented on the incredible novelty that the Cupertino company is bringing to the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max.

From this point of view, the changes that Apple is making to the Portrait mode of new smartphones. This will integrate the LiDar sensor which “will be used specifically for far better edge detection. Things like small gaps in road signs should now be picked up by the new process ”. And that's not all. According to rumors circulating on the Net, after a very long wait, Apple could finally give users the video portrait functionality.

Finally, the last really noteworthy detail concerns theultrawide lens rear camera. Apparently, this will go from a ƒ / 2.4 to opening an aperture ƒ / 1.8, but only and exclusively on Pro models. This will result in the passage of a greater amount of light, and therefore in better images in conditions of low light and / or visibility. An important improvement, especially if we consider that so far the ultrawide camera has been the one with the poorest performance. But Apple has worked hard on optimizing the features of the iPhone 13, and we are confident that the new smartphone will have the success it deserves.
