iOS 13: here is the list of compatible iPhones

iOS 13 will be missing from the iPhone 5s and iPhone 6, which will have to stay on iOS 12. Apple stops offering feature updates on these two devices. Three tablet models are also discontinued and will not go under the new operating system announced: iPadOS.

One of the big advantages with iPhones over Android smartphones (unless you buy a Google Pixel or OnePlus) is software tracking. You can continue to use your 4 or 5 year old device and continue to benefit from new iOS features by receiving the most recent updates along with the latest flagships. Battery or performance issues can arise over time, but the user is at least on the software side.

IPhone 5s and iPhone 6 deprived of iOS 13

Bad news, however, for owners of an iPhone 5s or an iPhone 6: Apple has decided not to provide iOS 13 on these two models. No wonder the iPhone 5S turns 6 this year. We will not mourn the fate of the 6th generation iPod Touch, also deprived of Apple's new mobile OS. On the other hand, the iPhone 6 has not yet blown its five candles, so we could have hoped for a final update to iOS 13.

On the tablet side, the switch to the iPadOS system is also causing victims. The iPad mini 2 and 3 as well as the first iPad Air of the name will not benefit from this major update marking the separation of iOS from the world of tablets. All other devices not mentioned and having received the update to iOS 12 will also be updated to iOS 13 or iPadOS.
