His life, however, was cut short when he was only 26 years old due to Manson family. A violent murder, which shook Hollywood for many months.

A ray of sunshine in Hollywood, the young Sharon Tate

Blonde, charming and with two magnetic eyes, Sharon Tate was one of them most promising actresses of Hollywood of the 60s. The woman's career began with small extras in series and films and seemed to be proceeding in the right direction.

The real success began in 1964 with the film Time of war, time of love and the following year with Castles of sand: the most important role, however, was obtained thanks to Cerimonia per un delitto, shot mainly in France.

After the film, he decided to go to London and that's where he met Roman Polański. The man would become her husband in January of 1968. Polański was working on his new film in which he was supposed to play Jill St. John as the main actress but after meeting Sharon, the man was completely bewitched by the woman.

He decided to change at the last minute: a red wig and go, Sharon Tate was the protagonist.

Between 1967 and 1968 the woman achieved excellent goals. After returning to the United States with Polański, she starred in another film in '67 and two more were due out in the coming months, including The Valley of the Dolls for which he earned a Golden Globe nomination.

Moreover, the Tate became the protagonist of the magazine Playboy. On the famous weekly were published some of her unpublished photos taken by her future husband during the making of the film Please, don't bite me on the neck !.

In short, the future of women was showing itself brighter than ever.

A little less radiant, however, was her marriage to her husband. The 20 January of the 1968 the two married and moved to Belgravia. Polański's attitude seemed to be directed towards infidelity and he was not very respectful towards his wife.

This prompted Tate to put their career on the back burner but Polański wanted a real woman next to him, not a housewife: the two then returned to Los Angeles and started dating again. entertainment world.

Fortunately for her, Sharon Tate resumed acting. During the summer of '68, the shooting of a new film began, which obtained excellent feedback from the critics. At the end of the year she became pregnant and in early '69 she and her husband moved into their new love nest, the residence at Cielo Drive formerly home of Terry Melcher, a music producer.

The Tate continued to act and win the favor of the public and critics, even taking part in an Italian film in Rome.

A murderer and his sect

During those years, in the United States, there was a man whose name probably the whole world knows: Charles Manson. The man began to steal at the tender age of 13 and between reformatory and prison, he spent most of his life behind bars.

He was great manipulator and often had intense outbursts of anger that it was best to stay away from. During his years in prison, he greatly improved his priming techniques and when it came out, in the spring of 1967, it started luring girls in need.

After having sex with them, he convinced them to join his group which over time turned into a real sect, also known as the Manson Family.

In those months, the man passed himself off as prophet. He claimed to be the reincarnation of Jesus Christ and thanks to his persuasion techniques, he managed to lure numerous young people in difficulty, without a home or parents and without money. Like every person on this planet, however, he too had a dream: to become a musician.

He tried in every way to climb the heights of success. There were even times when he forced some of his followers to have sex with producers in order to get an audition. Of all the producers he met, we find Terry melcher who lived in Beverly Hills, at number 10050 of Cielo Drive.

Melcher, without too many words, told him that he was not inclined to music. This triggered something in Manson, something really terrible.

To exonerate one of the members of the Family, Manson ordered his followers to carry out some murders following a precise modus operandi, in order to blame someone else. These murders, according to Manson, should have been carried out in the most brutal way possible precisely at 10050 of Cielo Drive, between 8 and 9 August 1969.

As we all know, however, Melcher he no longer lived at that address and Manson appears to have been aware of it.

A bleak sky: the terrible night of August 9th

According to some sources, Manson was aware that Melcher no longer lived in Cielo Drive. The man even made some inspections of the place and showed a particular interest against the beautiful Sharon Tate.

That cursed evening of August 8, 1969, the woman was at home with some of her friends. The husband was in Europe shooting a film and would return a few days later. In order not to leave her alone, she asked some of her friends to keep her company as the woman was close to giving birth, it was just over a week away.

After having dinner out, the group of friends returned to the Tate's house to spend the evening in peace and lightheartedness. Unfortunately, fate had more in store for them.

Shortly after midnight, four members of the Manson Family went to Melcher's old home. Initially they killed a poor boy who found himself in those areas by pure chance, then they tied up those present in the Tate house.

They shot the first friend of the woman, then al second who almost managed to escape, the third friend came instead stabbed. Sharon tried to protect herself, begging to take her hostage and at least give her time to give birth. He wanted at all costs to save the life of his future son.

The response from the killers, however, was brutal and painful. The woman was stabbed for well 16 times. That night, the Ray of light more brilliant than Hollywood was thus extinguished, out of nowhere, due to a probable bottomless revenge.

The smile of the young woman, however, is back, in a certain sense, on the big screen thanks to Margot Robbie, one of the protagonists of Once upon a time in Hollywood by Quentin Tarantino. However, Tarantino's film shows us a different ending, an ending from what would have happened if?

In the film's finale, Tarantino shows us what would have happened if the killers had chosen another house. In Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Manson's followers travel to the home of Tate's neighbors Cliff Booth and Rick Dalton. In full Tarantino style, the followers from executioners become the victims.

Just before the credits we see Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) who is invited by Sharon Tate to his little intimate evening with friends. Although it's just a movie and today it is the anniversary of the woman's death, I think it is pleasant to imagine it like this, as Tarantino shows it to us.

Smiling, happy and eager to give birth.
