Let's go in order. First protagonist of the scene was Surface Pro 2, on which Pany puts more emphasis: "is the best product Microsoft has ever built". Here are the improvements of the new version, which obviously are all to be verified with the tests: the color accuracy of the screen has been improved by 46%, the audio is now Dolby, but the main factor of novelty is the processing speed.
Thanks to CPU Intel Haswell Surface Pro is faster than 95% of notebooks out there, the overall performance is 50% higher than the previous version and those graphics went up by 20%.
The new CPU also leads to an increase in autonomy: Microsoft talks about a 75% improvement in battery life, compared to the previous model. The milestone was also reached thanks to the new Power Cover, which increases autonomy by 2,5 times thanks to a 31 Wh battery.
Prices
The debut also nuova docking station, which provides 3 USB 2 connectors, a USB 3, a mini-Display Port, the Ethernet socket, the jacks for audio input and output, and the power supply. Of particular interest is the DP output, which is capable of handling one maximum resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. Prominent multimedia features include the ability to handle 6k RAW video.
The Type Cover is 1 millimeter thinner than the previous one, so it is now the same thickness as the Touch Cover. The most interesting novelty is the backlighting of the keyboard, which makes it an important support for working in low ambient light conditions. The Type Cover also has a proximity sensor to optimize consumption: it turns off when you remove your hands.
Let's move on to prices: four configurations will be on sale:
- 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage
- 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage
- 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage
- 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage space
For now, only the price of the cheapest version is known (so to speak): 899 dollars, which in the city should convert to 899 €, given that with the previous range Microsoft had applied a change at par.
