The Dyson V11 Absolute Extra Pro review. What's changed?

Dyson V11 Absolute Extra Pro recensione

Dyson V11 Absolute Extra Pro it is a bit like the Ferrari of cordless vacuum cleaners: lots of power, refined design and an important cost. The latest product of the British company, available in nickel / blue and nickel / gold colors, costs 799 euro. The investment required is therefore very important and it is therefore natural to wonder if it is worth it. To find out we put the Dyson V11 Absolute Extra Pro to the test and now we are ready to tell you our experience.

But wasn't there already a Dyson V11?

Dyson V11 landed on the market last year, managing to win us over thanks to a series of interesting features. We are not only talking about the powerful digital motor but also the comfortable LCD display, which allows you to control modes and autonomy, and the High Torque brush with Dynamic Load Sensor, which uses sensors to automatically detect the level of resistance of the surface and adapt the power. suction.

If you want to do a quick refresher, we recommend that you check out our crazy test of the Dyson V11 or read our review.

But let's get back to us. If the British company had already announced its new cordless vacuum cleaner in 2019 why are we talking about it now? Simple: Dyson has decided to further enhance the product by bringing it to market an improved and even more performing variant, the V11 Absolute Extra Pro.

The legacy of Dyson V11

But before telling you what's new, let's try to understand what has remained unchanged.

Aesthetically, the two models are identical: we have the main body, which includes the motor, the battery and the display, and then a lot of different accessories that make the product extremely versatile. What you will use the most is undoubtedly the brush High Torque. equipped with the DLS system ie Dynamic Load Sensor. As mentioned above, this technology is able to understand on which surface you are moving and then communicate directly with the battery and the motor; this allows him to modify the suction power to always guarantee the same high level of cleanliness.

There is no shortage then additional accessories che will make your life easier. In addition to a classic soft roller brush, the Extra Pro package includes the crevice nozzle, for the tightest spaces, the mini turbo nozzle, suitable for example for your sofa, a multifunctional accessory, the brush for stubborn dirt and delicate.

All accessories are designs to quickly connect to the main body which, in turn, is meant to be extremely handy. The weight is not exactly contained: its 3 kg are felt, especially when you find yourself vacuuming raised surfaces, but obviously we are talking about limited cases and extremely short periods of time. In short, sucking up a few cobwebs will not be a problem.

The Dyson V11 Absolute Extra Pro review. What's changed?Dyson V11 Absolute Extra Pro inherits from the previous model too the integrated LCD display, placed on the back so as to be always visible during use. Its convenience is undoubted: it only takes a few seconds to understand which mode you are using between Eco, Medium e Boost. For each of them a constant analysis is carried out (8000 times per second) so as to return you in real time the minutes of autonomy left. In total we come to about 40-45 minutes with one battery, more than enough to clean even a medium to large house.

Finally, we come to the last element borrowed from Dyson V11 that is the advanced filtration system. Exactly as was the case with the previous model, the Extra Pro captures 99,97% of particles down to 0,3 microns, including pollen, bacteria and mites. Of course you will have to take care of the filter but nothing demanding: just washing under running water once a month.

The news of the new version

The Dyson Hyperdymium engine

We now come to the news that the English company wanted to introduce with the most recent product. You will notice the first two as soon as you open the box: Dyson V11 Absolute Extra Pro has a ground charging station and an additional battery.
The first is perfect for anyone who does not want to use the wall charging station, it only takes a couple of minutes to assemble and allows you to place the vacuum cleaner almost anywhere.
The second, on the other hand, can be replaced with the one already positioned in the special compartment to guarantee double the autonomy. You will then have two 7-cell batteries that carry 90 minutes of actual use.

The last difference between the 2019 and 2020 variant is the Dyson Hyperdymium digital engine which now reaches 125.000 rpm, 20% more than the Dyson V11.

Dyson V11 Absolute Extra Pro review: everyday use

The Dyson V11 Absolute Extra Pro review. What's changed? We have been using the English cordless vacuum cleaner for a few weeks and the user experience is certainly different than that offered by most of the competition. The suction power, which reaches 220W in Boost mode, combined with the Dyamic Torque brush, allows you to clean the whole house evenly, while the accessories included in the package guarantee maximum versatility. With the Dyson V11 Absolute Extra Pro we vacuumed dust from cramped spaces, cleaned the sofa, removed cobwebs and cleared dust from the floor under the bed. All this without too much effort because, despite the 3 kg of weight, it will not be difficult to govern this appliance.

We then appreciated the capacity of the tank which, with its 0,76 liters, allows you to make several passes without having to rush to empty it immediately. The operation is particularly immediate: the trigger mechanism allows you to expel the dust with a simple gesture, without coming into contact with what you have aspirated. A perfect solution even for those allergic to dust mites or pollen.

Among the pros we must absolutely add autonomy. Having two batteries is a great convenience, especially if you have a very large house and are sure to take more than 40 minutes for daily cleaning. Keep in mind that Dyson V11 Absolute Extra Pro takes about 3 hours to fully charge so your best bet is to always have your spare battery ready.

Finally, we come to noisiness which is perhaps the weakest point of the Dyson V11. With the Boost mode you get to exceed 80 decibels, which is equivalent to rush hour traffic. It is therefore not a deafening and annoying noise but in the long term it could cause some annoyance.

Dyson V11 Absolute Extra Pro review: the conclusions

Dyson continues to be a guarantee: the new V11 Extra Pro offers you everything you need, from performance to accessories. It is not without flaws, mind you. Long charging times and noise can be improved but it is nothing that really affects the user experience, especially with this version that offers you two batteries.

Is it worth buying? Absolutely yes but, just like for Ferrari, you have to be ready to invest a lot of money: 799 euros is really quite a lot.
