Saints Row 5 has been postponed: we will have to wait until the next fiscal year for the game to be released. The fifth chapter of the saga, which tells the rise to power of the criminal gang of Third Street Saints, was expected by the end of 2020. But according to the manufacturer's tax documents, we won't see it until April 2021.
Saints Row 5, release postponed to 2021
Embracer Group, the parent company of Saints Row 5 makers Deep Silver and THQ Nordic, recently released a corporate income report (you can find it here). In the text, it reads that the company had plans to release by the end of the fiscal year (March 31, 2021) two AAA video games, a category in which Saints fully falls. However, the two titles were postponed to next fiscal year, which runs from 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2022.
In the relationship, the two games they are not mentioned by name. But given the company's previous announcements and industry rumors, it seems inevitable that one of these is the game that tells the story of the Third Streets Saints.
Another indication comes from the title list presented by the Embracer Group to investors. “The [corporate] growth is buoyed by the recent or upcoming release of games such as Biomutant, Chorus, Deep Rock Galactic, Destroy all Humans !, Iron Harvest, MotoGP 20, Ride 4, Snowrunner, Wasteland, WWE2K Battleground and a number of titles whose advertising campaigns have not yet started ”.
There is little hope that Saints Row will be included in the unnamed "series of titles". In fact, the company then went on to announce that “in next fiscal year, which will end on March 31, 2022 ″ will continue to grow and produce “the first AAA game since the release of Metro Exodus".
We may have a specific date by the end of the year
It therefore seems that, after the release of the Saints Row 4 edition for Nintendo Switch, we should still wait for a new adventure of the Third Street Saints. In any case, it is more likely that a release date will be announced for Saints Row 5 by the end of this year. We will keep you posted.
