The dashboard lines are lively and original, just like those of the exterior design, and the solution of the screen stands out "floating" digital instrument cluster, i.e. without a protective lid, like some electric cars.

Another novelty that Hyundai considers really important is the replacement of the classic air vents with others of the indirect type. In practice, as on Tesla Model 3, the air conditioning comes out of thin and full-width slots on the dashboard. The air flow is directed already out of the vent, and allows a better propagation of cold (or hot) air inside the passenger compartment.

We come to talk about mechanics, because here too the new Tucson surprises. The platform has remained unchanged from the past, but Hyundai Tucson 2021 alongside the proven petrol and diesel offers a whole series of electrified engines, becoming one of the most complete C-SUVs from this point of view. The range of engines consists of a mild hybrid petrol, a “pure” diesel and two hybrids.

The petrol engine is the new one 1.6 T-GDI SmartStream with CVVD technology for 150hp valve lift, coupled to the sistema mild hybrid 48V already seen on the i20, and available with both the 7-speed dual-clutch DCT automatic transmission with both the new iMT gearbox, also already known on the i20.

At the base of the range Diesel instead there is the well-known engine 1.6 CRDi da 115 CV with classic manual gearbox. A little more on the version will arrive around April 1.6 ma mild hybrid with 136 hp, which we have already seen on the current Tucson.

Hybrid engines

So far everything is known (or almost). The news is coming now: they are also making their debut two new hybrid engines based on the 1.6 T-GDI petrol engine. In fact, let's talk about the versions HEV (la Hybrid) and PHEV (la Plug-in Hybrid) at Hyundai Tucson 2021.

The Full Hybrid it has a system similar to that seen on the Ioniq and Kona Hybrid, with therefore a fairly powerful electric motor to help the internal combustion engine. Here though the approximately 60 HP electric motor is coupled to the 1.6 turbo engine and a 1,3 kW battery. We then arrive at one total power of 230 hp. The motor is coupled to a classic automatic transmission with 6-speed torque converter and is available in both front and all-wheel drive.

About the version Plug-in hybrid instead the battery reaches a capacity of 13,8 kW, while the electric motor touches 91 HP. The autonomy in electric mode is around 50 km, and the power becomes well 265 CV total.

The performances are very interesting for both hybrids: 0-100 km / h in 8 seconds for the HEV (8,3 for the all-wheel drive version), with the Plug-In with superior performance but not yet formalized.

All that remains is to talk about prices. Hyundai Tucson 2021 is offered starting from 29.300 euro with 1.6 HP 150 T-GDI engine, iMT intelligent manual gearbox and XLine trim.

There are three trim levels. At the "base" there is theXTech, already very equipped (cruise control, digital instrument panel and 8-inch infotainment with Apple Car Play and Android Auto). The three-zone climate, also rare as an option on rival cars, is not lacking from this set-up.

Going up in level we find theXLine andeXcellence, with standard and optional equipment that is always superior and luxurious. To switch to motorization Diesel from 115 hp you have to take into account a price of 30.750 €while for the HEV hybrid version with two-wheel drive starts at a cost of 33.350 euros.

At the top of the range at the moment we find the 1.6 T-GDI HEV with all-wheel drive and eXellence set-up, proposed for 39.550 euros.

Promotions and offers

The prices of the Hyundai Tucson are in line with the competition and embellished with a nice standard equipment. However, Hyundai Tucson 2021 also offers one launch discount (net of trade-in or scrapping) of 4.250 euros, which rise to 4.750 for the HEV.

Then there are the now inevitable offers for financing and rental. Taking advantage of the Hyundai i-Plus financing, for example, with an advance of 9.000 euros you can take home a Hyundai Tucson 2021 hybrid HEV in the XLine version with installments starting from 289 euros per month. Tucson: N-Line and PHEV version in 2021

For now, the range consists of the 1.6 turbo gasoline mild hybrid, the hybrid HEV and the 1.6 diesel, with the three starting configurations. With sportier, more aggressive and more aggressive lines, according to Hyundai it will be the set-up that most completes Tucson's out-of-the-box lines.

By the middle of next year, therefore, the Hyundai Tucson 2021 range will be complete. Next year we should also be able to test this very interesting SUV.
