The PlayStation Store of the past? It is visible thanks to a simple plugin

The update of the PlayStation Store resulted in the removal of PlayStation 3 and PS Vita games. However, a programmer managed to bring the old version of the store back to life. Like? With a small Firefox extension.

SilicaAndPina. This is the "name" of the developer - or, as the nickname suggests, of the programmers - who created the plugin Valkyrie PS Store. It is a free extension that works exclusively on Firefox and which is based on Archive.org e Wayback Machine, two tools that are known to allow you to view previous versions of any existing website.

The purpose you can easily imagine: once the old PlayStation Store is displayed you will be able to log in and purchase otherwise inaccessible video games and applications.

If you want to retrieve some titles before it's too late, just download and install Firefox, add the Valkyrie PS Store extension and then visit the PS Store.

Oh My God
So, and this makes sense, the old web Playstation store wasn't taken down as much as they just got rid of a few HTML files to prevent you from access the APIs.

So someone made a Firefox plugin to restore it. AND IT WORKS.https://t.co/30enQtMBT4@DelistedGames pic.twitter.com/QzMemfqCMc

What happened to the PS Store?

The end of support for the PlayStation Store on PS3 and PS Vita was announced last month. The date is different for the two consoles: 2nd July for PlayStation 3 (and PSP) and 27th August for PlayStation Vita. Already now, however, it is no longer possible to see the titles of these platforms by accessing the store from the PC.

Do you own these consoles? Don't panic. Some features will remain available to users who still take advantage of these consoles, including the ability to download previously purchased content. Among these also those recovered with the PlayStation Plus subscription but be careful: to play it you still have to be registered to the service.

What can you not do? Well, as the birth of the extension suggests, it will not be possible to buy new video games and not even buy in-game content.
If, at the time of the interruption, you still have funds in your wallet, you can request a refund or use the remainders on a possible new Sony console, whether it is PlayStation 5 or PS4.
