Galaxy S8: the Bixby button can finally be deactivated
Tired of the Bixby button on your Galaxy S8? You can now deactivate it while waiting for the French version.

(CCM) - If all the owners of the Galaxy S8 are fully satisfied with their smartphone, many are however annoyed by the Bixby call button. Present on the edge of the device, this button was imposed by Samsung to best integrate its intelligent assistant into the device. But many people have taken a grudge against it, indicating that it often goes off at the least opportune moment, for example when taking a photo. And in Our Country, it is absolutely useless since Bixby is still not available. In response to criticism, Samsung finally allows to deactivate the button.

The specialized site SamMobile (link in English) has indeed noticed that the latest smart assistant software update added a new option in Bixby's settings, allowing the physical button to be disabled. You can of course always access it by swiping left from the home screen.

According to information from SamMobile, not all Galaxy S8s have this option yet, which indicates that the update is gradual. In addition, and it's a shame, the button cannot be assigned to another task. Clearly, once the shortcut to Bixby is deactivated, the button becomes totally useless ... We would have preferred that Samsung allowed it to allocate another function, but too bad.

French-speaking Bixby users will therefore be able to deactivate the annoying button and reactivate it when the South Korean manufacturer finally publishes the French version of Bixby Voice… Who could take place in November ! In any case, this is what the community manager of Samsung Our country would have announced to a member of the Facebook group Samsung Galaxy Note 7/8 Our country. Information that Samsung Our country has refused to confirm, and which is therefore to be taken in the conditional.
