Some developers found an option in the beta version of WhatsApp that allows hide chats and groups that you have muted/filed. With this new feature, conversations you don't want to follow will no longer appear at the top of the conversation list.

Until now, silencing a group does not mean being able to forget about it. In fact, with each new message from a user, the conversation back to the top of the chat list. One thing that can be useful for that group where they write too much, but from which you want to receive news from time to time (you don't want to talk to the soccer group but you want to check if they organize a game, for example). But not everyone likes it: sometimes it is preferred forgetting about the group or conversation.
The new option found by those of WABetaInfo instead should allow you to "freeze" a conversation, making it completely inactive: no notifications and no place at the top of your chats (and your thoughts). To activate this option you will have to go into the settings once and for all, and then forget about it. However, the function remains reversible in the classic way: just unlock it to be able to return to receive information.
The Telegram model
An alternative model to manage archived conversations could be that of Telegram, which offers a alternative panel for archived chats. This way you no longer see conversations you have muted, unless you are actively searching for them.
Choosing one of these options is just a matter of personal preference. However, it is good news that WhatsApp is working to implement these possibilities, in so as to leave us a choice. The new feature should arrive soon: if it has already entered the Beta version of the app, once the necessary tests have been carried out it should become available to everyone. We keep you updated.
